Aspiring Horror Writer and Killer Klown in Disguise 🥸🤡
New Year’s resolution? Write a bestseller, retire to the beach and enjoy the waves as I fan myself with large bundles of cash. Or, you know, maybe meet my daily word count at least a few times a week, whichever comes first 😂

Writing late at night is always fun because when you wake up and read it it’s either surprisingly good or the most bat shit word stew you’ve ever seen and there is no in between

Welp, looks like AI generated garbage is on its way to over saturate the book market. On the plus side they’ll never be able to replicate the one true human experience: pure cringe. Look out world, there’s nothing left to keep my unadulterated thoughts off the page 😭😂

Just finished watching Arcane, and as a writer I can only hope to one day create something that breaks my reader’s hearts as beautifully as mine has been broken 😭❤️

I saw a post not too long ago where someone was complaining about how every horror protagonist is either a YouTuber or a podcaster and honestly? I think it’s just the signs of the times. How many old horror classics featured writers as the main character? The tropes they are a changin 🤷‍♂️

A reminder as winter approaches: remember to leave your windows unlocked so the local cryptids and spooks can enter your homes more easily, the unknowable horrors of the night get cold too

Tries blue corn for the first time. “Ooh, that’s got a delightful little crunch to it.” Looks down at the cob, only to discover the “knobs” are actually an assortment of blue and black shelled beetles scuttling across my hands. “Huh, interesting flavor.” Shrugs and leans in to take another bite

Finishing the first draft of a project: “This is the best work I’ve ever done” 🥳🥰😁

Reading the same draft about a week later:

If you ever find yourself lacking inspiration for your next horror story look up some facts about deep sea wildlife. From eels who spend their days burrowing through dead meat to squids with eyes bigger than dinner plates, the ocean is the warm soup from which all terrors crawl out of

I’ve been interested in reading more fantasy but I’m having a hard time finding something with a more “adult” feel that doesn’t delve straight into smut, anybody have any suggestions? I read mostly horror so dark fantasy seems to be a good starting place, but I’m not picky

There’s an odd sense of comfort to be found in the horror genre. In this uncertain world we live in it feels good to find that some evils can be beat. Vampires fall to the sun, werewolves to silver, it reminds us that real world evil cannot last, so long as there are those brave enough to face it

One of my favorite things about writing is how much freedom you can give yourself to learn. I feel like once you become an adult not knowing the answer becomes this terrible thing, but when I’m writing I can allow myself to be curious.

It’s so funny to me hearing other writers talk about how they can’t even start a project without names for like 15 of their characters and I’m over here like, “this is Bob McPlaceholder, the main POV and his associates Friend 1 and Love Interest 2” 😅

Considering throwing out my current WIP in favor of a properly shloppy 80s inspired gore fest with all the classic cheesiness baked in. God knows I’ve been taking myself far too seriously lately

Me using the same word two sentences in a row: 😱 Me using the word “said”:

Hey Monster Mashers! Who do you think wins in an all out brawl between these two? The embodiment of regret or the personification of fear?

(Certainly no hidden agenda related to a writing project or anything 🫣)

I know it’s kinda side stepping “the point,” but all I’m saying is that Silent Hill would have never been overrun by hellish creatures from the subconscious if they’d put in a Waffle House downtown #silenthill #wafflehouse

I’d sure like to read right now but nothing sounds super engaging *glances nervously at 75+ TBR pile behind me* Anybody have suggestions for something light/easy to get me in the proper mood?
