Looks that the time of "agentic burnout" realization has come. Another must read. "It would seem that we are addicted to a new drug, and we don’t understand all of its effects yet. But one of them is massive fatigue, every day." steve-yegge.medium.com/the-ai-vampi...
The AI Vampire
This was an unusually hard post to write, because it flies in the face of everything else going on.

Must read, seriously. The negative impact of AI on juniors and their ability to learn and grow has been a major questioning for me since GenAI started. Our industry is shooting itself in the foot, and this will have ripple effects for many years.

Rust just enforces correctness at compile time so production doesn’t have to, apparently that’s controversial.

We finally did it: Apache Arrow now has a security model.

The Arrow security model doesn't cover any specific Arrow implementation, but it informs about pitfalls and guardrails when dealing with potentially untrusted data in one of the Arrow formats.

Not the first time I hear this. Brace yourself for a wave of "agentic burnouts", in particular among ADHD people where the continuous dopamine fix resulting from agents producing stuff leads people to endlessly keep feeding them.
AI users are working longer because, for the first time, our tools can finally keep pace with our imagination.

When output is cheap, your greatest leverage isn't how much you build, but the taste to know what is worth building - and the rest required to see the difference.

„There will still be joy in programming. Just as there’s joy in joinery, knitting, and hiking.“

you could not have literally not picked worse examples though…
The cost of turning written business logic into code has dropped to zero. At best, near-zero.

The cost of integrating services and libraries, the plumbing of the code world, has dropped to zero. At best, near-zero.

What does that mean for the future?

Asking humans before opening an issue at @jetbrains.com: in IntelliJ, is there a way to open a complete project view (with nav bar, multiple tabs and everything) in a new window?

Google doesn't know, ChatGPT and Claude hallucinate. So I'm not sure this is actually possible, but HALP if you know!

3 days ago the extended boar family wandered in my garden on their way from the right-side neighbor's to the left-side neighbor's. No damage but this was Dad, Mom, Aunt, Uncle and all their children. 10 boars and a 11th one to bring up the rear. Pretty well organized family time 😅🐗 #sanglicam

Now my brain is working surprisingly well when I'm comfortably sitting in front of my screen 🤷
