78 trees are being proposed to be subject to felling in Poynton. Given the flooding there in recent years this is a real concern for our neighbouring area. Check out Poyntonpool.org for more information 💚

Local donation news! As part of our commitment to promote the Bramhall's "30% to nature" campaign @caneurope.org, we Happy Valley volunteers money donated by the Mounting Stone quizzers last weekend 💚 it goes towards their next project of developing a meadow behind Bramhall High school 👏🏼

Thank you to @goodgym.bsky.social six of their members this week helped clear a big patch of Balsam in Happy Valley. This is an evasive non-native plant and needs community support like Good Gym to help it reduce in growth x 💚

Congratulations to Moss Hey Primary school for committing to Bramhall's 30% for Nature! They have just installed new planters to start growing their own fruit and veg. Their Eco Club are looking after the tomato plants over the holidays. In September they plan to sow our donated wildflower seeds 💚

Congratulations to Hursthead Infants School for committing to Bramhall's 30% for Nature project! Their Green Team have worked hard to build brash piles for insects and small mammals. They have also sowed our donated wildflower seeds, creating a patch that will hopefully bloom over the years! 💚

Are you 18-25 years old worrying for the planet? Talking about it with others who might be feeling the same can really help.

@plasticfreejuly.bsky.social Plastic Free July 💚 today's:
Plastic free packaging of fruit and veg. This could be actively choosing the food at a shop that is free from plastic packaging, choosing food wrapped in bio-degradeable packaging or using ethical food box home delivery services

@plasticfreejuly.bsky.social

How could we optimise our use of reusable coffee cups? There are lots of places that will allow use of them.

Can you reduce the demand for plastic waste dining materials?
Dine in, write to the companies/request eco materials, take your own bamboo utensils 💚

@plasticfreejuly.bsky.social today's tip:
Consider the material before buying your next clothing item. Plastic clothes, such as polyester and nylon, shed micro plastics. Just think about where they end up?
Instead, look for items made of bamboo, lyocell, organic cotton and hemp 💚

@plasticfreejuly.bsky.social Plastic Free July! Today's tip:
Can you make your bathroom plastic free? Try solid bars - soaps, shampoos, conditioners or for shaving.
Try refillable - handwash, body wash, bubble bath.
Try alternative toothpaste - tablets, in jars and with a bamboo toothbrush 👏🏼

Congratulations to Hursthead Junior school for joining the Bramhall's 30% for nature campaign 💚👏🏼 the children have just planted a new fern growing area - great for us as this landscape is depleted in the UK, they are growing an oak tree nursery and the flowering onions are popular with the bees!

@plasticfreejuly.bsky.social Plastic Free July! 🤗 this week, we are making daily suggestions of how to reduce plastic use. Today's tip is:
Try swapping to plastic free cleaning products - laundry/ dishwasher sheets, washing up liquid & surface cleaner refills, natural fibre sponges or cloths 💚

Stockport Council's efforts & drive to role model nationally is very disappointing when it comes to BIODIVERSITY. More houses are being permitted to be built near local nature reserves. The infrastructure of our roads is going to bring challenges/ more air pollution. What will be done? 🌍

On 22/06/25 some wonderful local volunteers cared for and pruned our Woodford Orchard that we planted as a community a few years ago. Thank you so much to them for the maintenance! Look at the fruit already thriving - still a bit to go before ripe, but what a win locally! 💚

Ladybrook Primary School are continuing to support Bramhall's '30% for Nature' campaign! Look at their efforts & progress! The children are growing veg & the planted wildflowers are in full bloom! What a beacon for other local groups 💚 we love seeing the local commitment from our next generation 🫶🏼

Came across this today for people in Greater Manchester living in flats and apartments without garden spaces, but instead who can jazz up their balconies or have window boxes. All part of trying to support all in re-connecting more with nature x
