📣 Join us this Friday at 12pm EST for our next Support Our Science Town Hall!

An open discussion on how we can improve funding, support, and working conditions for early career researchers across Canada.
Update: The SRSR amended its motion to request anonymized, aggregated Tri-Council data — protecting researcher privacy, and scientific integrity while supporting accountability.

Thank you to Canada’s research community for speaking up!

#SupportOurScience
We're concerned about the SRSR motion requesting 25 years of disaggregated tri-council data. While we understand the data is intended to be anonymized, this wasn't explicitly stated in the motion – and the specific information requested could still enable re-identification when linked together.
This data must NOT be made public. Doing so would compromise researcher privacy (especially for vulnerable groups), undermine confidential peer review, and expose unpublished research.
We support accountability, but it must preserve privacy and scientific integrity.

At @supportourscience.bsky.social, we advocate for stronger federal investment in research funding and equitable pay for trainees — ensuring that Canada remains not just a destination for talent, but a place where researchers can build thriving, lasting careers.
Without fair, competitive support for Canadian graduate students and postdocs, we risk losing the very people who drive discovery and innovation at home.
The article highlights how Canada’s research ecosystem is attracting top international talent — but also underscores a critical point: to truly sustain this brain gain, we must properly fund the researchers already here.
📢 Support Our Science in the news!

We’re proud to be featured in CTV News’ latest story on Canada’s emerging “brain gain” — a scientific migration as researchers look north amid challenges in the U.S.

National Stipend
✅ Create a national minimum net stipend and increase research grants to sustain it.

Graduate students & postdocs deserve fair, stable support.
Investing in researchers = investing in Canada’s future
Embedding support in research grants:
✅ Embed trainee support as an evaluation criterion in Tri-Council research grants.
Because research excellence depends on supporting the people who do the work.
