San Diegans struggling with addiction & homelessness now have expanded access to care. In partnership with Sup. Montgomery Steppe, the Board unanimously passed our measure to add 44 new detox beds in the City of San Diego—giving more people the support they need to begin rebuilding their lives.

There’s never a shortage of money for corporate tax breaks or lavish spending, but when working families need help, the well suddenly runs dry. The Board unanimously approved Supervisors Lawson-Remer & Aguirre's measure urging the Trump Admin to immediately get food assistance to families on SNAP.

Starting this week, during Youth HOPE Month, the YMCA of San Diego County is walking from Tijuana to Escondido to bring visibility to youth homelessness and showcase the progress happening in our region.

This Saturday, November 1, about 400,000 San Diegans will lose their CalFresh benefits due to the federal shutdown. The San Diego Food Bank is stepping up to keep our neighbors fed, but they can’t do it alone.

I had the honor of celebrating the incredible work of Visión y Compromiso’s volunteer Promotoras in our South Bay communities. As the daughter of Mexican immigrants, I understand how challenging it can be to navigate health systems in a language that isn't your own.
