Cobalt pigments and toxicity - we hear and read about it a lot. So I went down that rabbit hole and looked into it further while experimenting with the gorgeous PG50 Cobalt Turquoise.

PV29 Perylene Violet... it was the most fun study for me so far. The pigment had a great value of ranges and combined with PG36 created a range of grey to browns and a gorgeous deep forest green.

Why pigments matter you might ask. Especially in watercolor pigments have character. They can be transparent or opaque, staining, easy to lift, granulating or smooth.
Knowing those properties opens a whole world of conscious decisions you can make during painting.
