New bowl combo. I’m ahead of the game on holiday market products so have a bit of time to experiment with glazing. I want to do more “landscape” results. I like this one.

I’m not sure which makes me happier today — the bumper crop of sweet potatoes from my backyard “ DC farm” or the amazing blowout by the Dems, esp. in my home state of New Jersey!

Huzzah! Finally got the right clay body for these melted class coasters. I was having a high loss ratio with most of the stonewares I tried but Laguna’s Soldate 60, designed for raku firings, worked perfectly.

I’m super excited that my work will be available starting Nov 21 at the DC Maker’s Guild’s booth at the Downtown Holiday Market! One line I’ll be selling are agateware soap dispensers. Each is unique but I’m proud of all of them.

Throwback Thursday: I’m working on making pieces for the holiday markets. If only I could find the notes of what glaze combo I used on these…

I’mcalling this the green nipple.

Glaze are both Spectrum — textured kiwi with dots of muddy waters. Fired to cone 10. I counted on it being runny but apparently I had a slight high spot in the middle of the bowl. Still, cone 6 glazes at cone 10 are lovely.

I tried to call WJLA, the local Sinclair-owned affiliate in DC, to express my disgust at their decision to pre-empt @jimmykimmel.com. Shockingly, no one answered the phone. I did get through to the news tip line, which said all emails to newsdesk@wjla.com will be forwarded to the general manager.

A free and democratic society cannot silence comedians because the President doesn’t like what they say.

This is an attack on free speech and cannot be allowed to stand.

All elected officials need to speak up and push back on this undemocratic act.

I’ll be at Art All Night Mt Pleasant Friday (Sept 12) and at the Capitol Hill Art Walk on Saturday and Sunday. I’ll have smaller, easy-to-carry items for AAN and bigger bowls for CHAW. Some overlaps, but special items for each. More reason to visit both!

Nesting pasta bowls.

The glazes are Opulence Antique Iron, with Spectrum’s Running Hot Chowder (since coat) on top and then dots of Spectrum Muddy Waters to create the lines.

A new set of plates made for a friend. She had bought some small plates from me last year and wanted dinner plates to match. I forgot which colors I had used, so a set of four became a set of five….

A rep for @mayorbowser.bsky.social was scheduled to come to a meeting with Mt. Pleasant residents at 2 pm today, a workday. More than 50 people showed up to listen and be heard. So, he fled without speaking to the group.

New sets of small tumblers, good for juice, espresso, tea, wine or whatever. The glazes are Spectrum’s floating glazes — sangria and papaya on one set and Louisiana bayou and cactus on the other. They hold about 4 ounces.

This was a glaze failure a week ago — an experiment had gone awry. So, spray a bit of hairspray on it, dab some running hot chowder, then two coats of Spectrum Tiger Eye, et voila!

Pretty in Pink! The glaze on the tray is Spectrum’s Floating Kimchi. On the bowl is dots of Spectrum’s Running Hot Chowder, then Fuzzy Peach all over and Floating Sangria on the rim.
