Double digits, baby! 🎂

Ten years. Thousands of curators. Millions of songs. And still the same mission – helping artists, even the really small ones, or those on a budget, connect with curators, outlets, and real listeners.

Happy 10th to SubmitHub! 1️⃣0️⃣ 🎉🎁🍾

Did you know that SubmitHub Links isn't JUST for creating landing pages?

Yes, that's its main function, but you can also use it to set up... REDIRECTS. This redirect feature is great for linking from your profile/website – an easy way to track clicks and shorten links.

There'll always be doubts about curators – feedback can sting & everyone has different motivations. While we can’t see into their minds, we vet them thoroughly & have protections to ensure fairness 🔎 So, what have we done to prevent frustration & avoid being scammed? 🧵👇

🎬 Would you like our curators to watch the music video for your song? 🍿🥤 Include it as the primary source!

If you have a music video, even if unreleased (must be set as Unlisted, not Premiere or Private), you can add the YouTube link as the main source for your song.

Have you sent out your submissions and then changed your mind? You have the option to cancel your campaign 💡

Whether you realized you sent the wrong song, sent it too soon, decided it still needs reworking, or just got frustrated with the world... yes, you can cancel it.

Streams don’t make you rich, but strategy helps 💡

Streaming might pay fractions of a cent, but a smart release plan and having all your bases covered can stretch every cent (much) further 💪 What do we mean? 🤔🧵👇

Do you release cover songs? 🎶 Every distributor has its own rules, ranging from not accepting covers at all to easily distributing them without a license (if you don’t enable downloads).

So, what are the most common scenarios for distributing a cover? 🤔

Make. Your. Pitch. Eye-catching. 👁️

While a quick pitch won’t win a placement if the song doesn’t fit, it can make a difference if there’s hesitation. The pitch is a way to stand out in a queue of songs, so make it compelling enough to make the curator pause for a sec.

With more than 11M artists on Spotify 🤯 there are bound to be some with the same/similar names. To that, the use of different capitalization or symbols (think $ or ††† (Crosses) complicates it even more, making it likely for one's music to get mixed up with someone else. 🧵👇

Have you ever gotten a decline with #nofeedback from a SubmitHub curator and wondered what the heck that's good for? Well, it actually shows a lot of goodwill from the curator 💡

You know that the curator doesn’t go for the style your song is in, but still want to try your luck? 😨 Well, you have every right to do so – it’s your credits, after all. However, only do this if you're ready to gamble and accept the (high) probability of being rejected.

There’s no AI witch hunt 🧙 … there never was 👾

When you upload a generated track, we ask you to be honest and disclose it. This info isn’t public – curators won’t see any badge or label on your song. It’s there to filter out the curators who said they don’t want AI songs...

A curator with a very high acceptance rate can be a bad sign. Why? 🤔

We believe that curators should do some curating – thus, be selective. If they accept every song, it can mean they’re either not willing to put much effort in or their standards are (very) low.

Is there a curator who just doesn't vibe with your music or provides feedback that feels useless or unpleasant? Instead of getting angry or frustrated after the umpteenth time, you can simply block them 💡

Struggling with cover art for your song or album?

While you can hire professionals (also on our Marketplace: tinyurl.com/ArtworkMarketplace), many indie artists opt for a DIY approach (hiring a graphic designer can be costly). If you’re not a designer yourself, KEEP IT SIMPLE 🔑

Paying for placement vs. for consideration, what's the difference?

Paying for placement = money directly securing a spot on a playlist or blog – is not only a big moral no-no. It compromises the curator's integrity as it allows money, not the music, to decide your spot 🤑

🧵👇
October 10, 2025 at 6:39 AM
💡 You probably already know that our curators are forbidden to copy-paste feedback. Copy-pasting is blocked by code, so everything must be typed out manually ⌨️ What you might not know is that they can't even repeat the same generic answer! 🙅

What's the optimal length for a song title?

From one-word names like Hello to Tame Impala-esque Nothing That Has Happened So Far Has Been Anything We Could Control, there's no strict rule for song naming, whether you want to ride a trend, be artsy, or just yourself.
