Eleanor (Nell) Gwyn was born #OnThisDay 1650.
One of the best known of the mistresses of Charles II, unlike many of his other partners, Gwyn was not granted her own peerage, but her eldest son, Charles Beauclerk was created duke of St Albans, a title that survives to this day.
