Decided to watch #movies that got bad reviews but might actually be good.

First two:

• King of Comedy (rewatch it turned out … still not a fan)
• Heaven's Gate (it was not great … but not a fiasco)

Next up:

• Videodrome

Any suggestions?

Writing update: Working on the outline for novel #2 in the new series. It'll be some story advancement and some backstory.

Issue is… I need an interlocking theme.

Just reached out to an editor for my novel. She’s deciding if it’s a fit for her.

We both like this genre but disagree 100% on what’s a good novel in this genre. So… might not work for her.

Also, starting on novel #2 in the same world.

They told us that we didn't understand how #tarrifs work.

That the foreign countries pay for them and not US consumers.

That we were stupid or being misled to believe otherwise. And
that they understand finances better than any other admin.

And then, there's this:

Editing my novel … which is going. really. slowly.

Should I just hire someone?

Also listening to The Association's greatest hits, which is more distracting than I expected since the music is engaging … which might not be helping my "process". ;)

Finished the first draft of a novel. Been many years since I have been able to say that. Novella, yes. Novel, no

Happy 4th.

Sing with me:

"Ocean's rise. Empires Fall."

"I will send a fully-armed battalion to remind you of my love."

Everybody!

Two new fables (very short stories). One hopeful, one not so much. Free to read. Please let me know any thoughts.

We travel between Eastern and Central time zones so often that I don't set my clock forward or back.

I just tell my Jeep, "You're on Chicago time for the next six months."

So… I decided to just start writing "something" and after a handful of useless paragraphs about nothing, I hit upon an idea for a short story that might just have some legs.

We shall see.

In short: Fingers to keyboards writers!

Halfway through Murakami's "The City and its Uncertain Walls." That's it. Maybe I'll post a comment when I'm finished.

January 1st of another year, and I, again, register my frustration of a broken promise:

We don't yet have a moon base.

We've been promised this since I was a kid & I never thought we'd get to 2000, let alone 2025 without one.

The final movie I watched in 2024 was Wild Robot.

Perhaps a dose of recency bias, but maybe the best movie I viewed all year.

If you haven't seen it … it might be a good way to kick-off your movie-watching in 2025.

Won two antique dragon prints (from a 1682 publication) in an auction this morning.

I can only assume they were drawn from actual physical specimens unearthed during when Etna erupted in 1637.

Deck of cards my son made and gave as gifts this year.

Very cool! I especially like the SAND suit. And the J of CHAIRS.
