An electric bus ride to this morning's walk around the Hook with Warsash nature reserve. Plenty of birds and several moods of the Solent made for an excellent excursion...

An homage to the Wassail - a hot toddy - before crossing the road from the Cabinet Rooms to see Eliza Cathy and John Boden a musical take...

The Forest, from Deadman's Hill was looking particularly fine. An extemporised walk, as the planned start car park was full, proved better than the plan with more new areas explored, deer and Dartford warblers seen and I still hit my planned objective...

Tonight I'm in Hound for my music which will come from Andy Cutting and Gudrun Walther. The Chapel Sessions are such a glorious expression of the organisers love of music and bringing it to their locale: it's rather inspiring!

Today's excursion, funded by my National Art Pass, was to the Russell-Cotes Museum in Bournemouth. It is well worth a visit with lots to look at, only some of it slightly barking. On the basis of the museum I've bought a biography of Merton R-C which should be an entertaining read...

An afternoon wander round Highcliffe, taking in Steamer Point, the 'castle' and Chewton and Cranemoor Commons. The sunny interval was fleeting and the rainy intervals enduring but a decent walk with interesting lighting effects on the sea...

For the first time this week the Met Office have stopped forecasting sunshine and so the sun has finally put in an appearance for my excursion to Romsey. This is the first time I've made it to one of the Abbey's lunchtime recitals but hopefully not the last...

A glorious autumn morning for a troll around the Slindon Estate taking in Stane Street and Bignor Hill. Stunning views and autumn colours and manageably muddy underfoot despite recent rain

Back in this rather modest venue for lunch today: however, I'm the other side of the rood screen in the Quire for my choral fix

The week's musical odyssey continues with some Miserere action in Winchester Cathedral: the interior of which is somehow colder than the world beyond its walls...

The very enjoyable Moscow Drug Club (the name has yet to be explained) at the Arc. Really good to see Daryl Kellie on guitar who I haven't seen since the pre-COVID glory days of the Art House

Today's musical offering will involve four saxophones, and possibly some cartoons...

Last night, thanks to Broadside Hacks, Heartbreakers was converted into a folk club and a very enjoyable night it was. It was by some distance the oldest audience I've ever seen at the venue and almost certainly the first time it has hosted a hurdy-gurdy or bagpipes...

With BST in its death throes and the temperature heading for frost, I have turned the central heating on. It appears that I've largely forgotten how the control system works, not helped by the radiator upgrade since last March. I'm sure I'll work it out soon(ish)...

A musical excursion to Brighton and to the 12/13th centuries with Per Sonata as part of the early music festival. Always time for some bonus brass action, cake in the Lanes and Revival in the Evening Star...

A day in nature was followed by a highly entertaining night of brass in Winchester thanks to Key Lime Pi and the masterful Tuba Libres!

Today I went to RSPB Arne to hold my own, very low budget, Autumnwatch. Autumn was watched and, to an extent, heard and smelt...

Back here again but this afternoon's cultural activity will be learning about quantum entanglement and topological states of matter: it's a very long time since I last studied topology...

I went to the fishmongers this morning, I may not have taken the most direct route...

Risking concussion for my musical fun this evening. Aaron Catlow and Kit Hawes brought the entertainment to the cellar of the Hyde Tavern where, for the first time in very many years, a register was called and I had to say that I was present!

Back at Turner Sims for some sax and a *lot* of percussion. Having cycled here I am very wet, though the waterproofs have kept it almost entirely on the outside...

This afternoon I celebrated Concerto Sunday - Bruch's first violin and Grieg's piano - thanks to the Southampton Concert Band. A hugely enjoyable sell-out gig, reminding me that I ought to see more orchestral music live...
