Aspiring author, no you wouldn't have read anything I've written| B.A. Pre-Law | B.S. Electrical Engineering (2026?) | A.A.S. Math and Science |

Love world building, fantasy, sci-fi and their cozy varieties.
Thinking of posting ideas and advice I find on writing through podcasts etc as I really want to buckle down a little and write more. I miss it and with the clock app gone I'll be able to kick the habit I think.

Rule #1, the worst thing you do write is better than the best thing you don't write.

Just finished A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking by T Kingfisher. I've been looking for some good cozy low stakes fantasy. Not as low as Legends and Lattes but it gets right into the story and was a delightful story. I look forward to listening to more of their works.

A bit belated but my new years resolution is several fold. I need to at least compete with my wife for number of books read. She hit 388 last year soooo I've got a good challenge ahead of me. I want to start on actually finishing a novel myself.

Writing Tip:
Keeping your plot internally consistent is difficult. It's often helpful to include a section on your cheat-sheet (which I always recommend you have anyway) which is just general world facts/rules, like how your magic system mechanically works.

Started this account almost exclusively to support the writing podcast and memebers of writing about dragons and shit. But now that the other place is dead (didn't have an account over there anyways) figured I might actually try this out.

Writing Tip:
A fun way to practice your storytelling skills is to pick a piece of existing fiction (movie, show, etc.) and imagine how you would change or retell it in a different way. Ask yourself what you think would improve the plot and wargame the story.
