Remember when 45% of the total volume of a laptop was reserved for an optical drive?

Flexible shoulders can really help with BJJ. For example, when shaving your back.

I think 50% of bjj is just... washing things.

If I earned a nickel every time Spotify did something shitty, I’d finally be making real streaming money.

I asked AI why my electric bill was going up, and apparently there are a lot of factors. It could be seasonal changes to vampire loads in my house. Anything, really. Difficult to pin down to any specific thing. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Over a decade teaching and I finally have a student from Iowa.

This is one reason why AI is a bubble: all this money is flowing around in a circle. It is a mirage.
October 8, 2025 at 1:50 PM
I don't understand why AI people keep insisting, "if we can't steal your work, our industry will die" as if this were a compelling argument.

It reveals the very rotten core of your soul if you don't understand how foolish this makes you look.

Did you know you can make steel cut oats in your rice cooker using porridge mode?

Did you also know you can substitute water for apple cider?

Sir, we've identified the problem.
You're trying to sleep standing up.

Not to nitpick, but I'm pretty sure that's not how cats wear headphones.

My students, who are required to laugh at my jokes, think I am very funny.

This is a Tascam 688 8-track. I did not own one of these, but I lived with someone who did. I used it every chance I could. It sounded terrible. I loved it.

Am I a bad person because I fully expected this Lego set to be fully playable?

I need a pizza rack I can snap onto my rear wheel rack.

The two places I commute to the most (school&gym) have some portion of the route on a cycle track (I'm not sure brattle qualifies, but there are concrete barriers) and at this time of the year in boston, the commute is really relaxing.

Whoever stood up and insisted the TR-1000 have a headphone jack on the front left with a dedicated hardware volume control. 🫡

If you are even _remotely_ considering spending more than $2000 on a drum machine, we probably already know each other and are friends.
