Ever heard of a weedy seadragon? These funky little guys look like floating bits of seaweed, but they’re actually relatives of seahorses! They’re pros at blending into kelp forests down in southern Australia.

🌊 Victoria’s once-thriving giant kelp forests are nearly gone—an entire ecosystem lost. But on the west coast near the Otways, we found a rare patch still standing.

We filmed this to celebrate its beauty and document what remains. #OceanConservation #GiantKelp #Victoria #marinelife

Filming cuttles in action is one of the most mesmerizing parts of my work! 🦑 Watching them change color and texture instantly, thanks to their chromatophores, feels like capturing nature’s magic in real time. Truly fascinating creatures! #Cuttle #MarineLife #NatureFilmmaking #ScienceInAction 🌊

One of the highlights of my work is getting to explore diverse ecosystems like this mangrove habitat. From coastal resilience to biodiversity studies, every project reveals something extraordinary about nature. #Mangroves #Biodiversity #NatureWork #EcoProjects #marinelife

Australian fur seals are hands-down the most fun animals to film! They’re like the underwater acrobats of the ocean, darting around, pulling off spins, and always looking curious about the camera.

This is extraordinary behaviour of this smooth ray. Expelling its intestines violently to help get rid of anything it cannot pass. I shot this in Tasmania this year and we think it’s the first known documentation of this species doing this behaviour. Manta rays are known to do this. #marinelife

This #reef is only a few years old. A restored #shellfishreef in South Australia. Prior to this reef being here, it was just a sandy bottom. Check out the life and incredible ecosystem. #scuba #underwaterphotography #photooftheday #science #marinescience

Wait for it! This experiment we did last week shows how sponges filter and pump oceanic water through them. They are such an important part of our underwater ecosystem. This is non toxic vegetable based dye that is completely harmless to sponges and sea life around it.

Tasmania, an island state known for its rugged wilderness and unique biodiversity, is home to one of the planet’s most extraordinary natural wonders: the underwater forests of giant kelp (Macrocystis pyrifera).

Giant kelp forests are being restored in Tasmania. This kelp forest is one of the healthiest I’ve seen for many years.
