CONGRATULATIONS to Michael Deagler (SQ 51, 57) and Garth Greenwell (SQ 49)! On Thursday Michael won the PEN/Hemingway award for his debut, EARLY SOBRIETIES, and last month Garth won the PEN/Faulkner for SMALL RAIN!

We are thrilled for Jessie Li and Zhenglong Yang, who *both* won the PEN/Dau prize for debut short story! There are 12 winners, so we are wowed that 2 of them were in SQ 56. Their stories will be anthologized by Catapult later this year. In the meantime, you can read them here:
