"Let's pretend" serves a very real purpose. We're building muscle memory, even if the muscle is our own brain. Pretend. Prepare. Challenge your mind to imagine best and worst case scenarios. Hopefully, that moment never arrives. If you prepare, you may know what to do when it gets here.

All American farmers had to do was vote in their own best interest. Instead, hurting other people was their #1 goal. Now, they're going bankrupt. America will be weaker if we can't grow crops and raise livestock for ourselves. We need farmers. We also need them to think for themselves.

I get my intolerance for fascism and determination to fight against it from Mom. I get my love of democracy and fire to fight for something from Dad. We lost him 12 years ago. He never saw what America became. Sometimes, I wonder if I'd make him proud.

I'm still basking in the afterglow of a very successful rally in my hometown. I wasn't a lead organizer by any stretch, but I did help out the best I could. During the rally, I helped staff the information tent. Not only did it feel great to contribute to a successful event, the enthusiasm of everyone around me was contagious.

My mother was just 6-years-old when World War II came to an end. She lived in Berlin. She was living through history. Unlike most 6-year-olds, my mother didn't have the luxury of ignoring current events. Current events were happening to her daily. And nightly, as darkness brought bombing raids and a race for the shelters. She was aware of other things happening, too.

Now is the time to be courageous. You shouldn't have to be, if we're being honest. In America, you are supposed to be able to speak your mind freely, without any fear that the government will persecute you for it.
