As a kid, I fell in love with the time trial - the smell of massage oils, the sound of disc wheels, and the silence before 5, 4, 3, 2, 1… whoosh!
Years later, I even beat Serge Pauwels once (to be fair, he’d just raced Triptyque des Monts et Châteaux… while I was “recovering” on the couch 😏):
