"Appreciation" is too strong a word, but I do have a newfound perspective on the bits of positive progress that came from past tech bubbles after reading this.

Still flying high from attending State of the Browser again this year, though I'm also struggling to remember what a keyboard does after the ensuing holiday.

Just for the laughs, here's a "candid" photo including me smiling at the camera. Sorry for ruining your shot @marcthiele.com!

Walked away from State of the Browser 23 cards lighter, nearly half of the box!

If you got one, reach out! Connect on social, email me, whatever. These cards are great at starting conversations, not so great at continuing them unless we connected, and I'd love to keep in touch.

It's finally State of the Browser day!

If you see me around, be sure to ask for a one of a kind business card. I spent way too much time and money on them to go home with a box full!

I took my time over months to complete this course, really enjoyed how it was organized into but sized chapters to make that slow but steady progress easier.

It's a ton of great content and so so worth it, the fact that it also checked some CAECs off my list was a great bonus.
The length of the course is going to be particularly relevant to you if you have a CPACC or CPWA certificate from the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP).

The Practical Accessibility course is approved for IAAP Continuing Accessibility Education Credits (CAECs). ✨

Last but not least, Oliver Schöndorfer with Typographer vs. Accessibility!

All about readability and legibility of font typefaces, busting some accessibility myths, and promoting conscious decisions around type.

"Pick what fits your theme and then check the typefaces" - yes!

Whimsica11y by @sarajw.front-end.social.ap.brid.gy is next!

Missing the old web, blog rolls, guestbooks, lots of experimental content that may not be accessible, but it doesn't mean we shouldn't try.

For example Alt text as part of the art, Alt text selfies, share more of yourself.

First session after lunch is Scott Riley with Mindful Design for Developers.

Rethinking the way we consider and build for the Web, with a focus on self determination rather than relying on dopamine-based extrinsic motivation.

"The browser is the best design tool we have" yes!

Time for @matuzo.at talking about Color in CSS!

Lots of very helpful graphics and visualizations that help explain the difference between color spaces like HSL and Lab, where some bugs & limitations are, how they can be used together, and even converted from one to another.

So dynamic!

Now it's time for @joshtumath.uk talking about APIs. How to consider building them, who is the target audience, how freely it can change and evolve, how can it be made easy to use.

Very thought provoking and there's a lot of overlap with design systems work here too.

Niya Dobazova up next talking about light-dark() in CSS. Something I was only recently made aware of and already love.

Niya made a great case for taking the time to build for multiple modes, especially for accessibility support and confirmed sustainability improvements with dark mode.

Andreas Kling is up first!

Huge fan of active appreciation. Mindful of thanking someone for help, share how they positively impacted me.

Today I was reminded what it feels like to receive that kind of feedback, someone summed me up with the word "superlative" and I'm absolutely beaming.

Try it, we all need more good vibes.
