I was going to share my August reading stats but I read some duds last month and this is the only one worth sharing. If you haven’t read @johngreensbluesky.bsky.social's "Everything is Tuberculosis," move it to the top of your TBR stack now!

SkyBlue for BlueSky 🦋

COLORSCAPES was one of my favorite exhibits at Cheekwood (Nashville) and this portion of the exhibit transformed existing architecture in the portico into a cyanometer, a simple tool invented by Swiss scientist Horace-Bénédict de Saussure to measure the blueness of the sky. ☁️

Anyone know if there’s a plan to make @thestorygraph.com a more social experience? Asking on behalf of GR converts who miss the comments and notes.

My July stats for tax… I usually don’t read strictly fiction or only audio, but I had lots of time in the car and went down a dystopian rabbit hole.

My baby brother is having his first baby! 😭 I’ve never crocheted anything before (Woobles excluded) and have been recovering from hand surgery, but I think I did OK with this baby blanket pattern from TL Yarn Crafts (she’s so lovely to listen to & easy to learn from). Can't wait to meet my nephew! 🥰

I haven’t been on here in a while due to a broken finger so I thought I’d share a few pics of the cute culprit. This little ball of energy loves nothing more than running free and he’s much stronger & faster than me when he sees a chance to escape. Be careful grabbing the collar of a determined dog!

🌸🌼 Happy Spring Equinox 🌼🌸
Our tulip magnolia tree and daffodils have been showing off this week. I’ve often wondered if tulip magnolias were included in a tree giveaway in our town before we moved here because it seems every other yard has one. They’re beautiful this time of year!

"Hey all you #Nashville people, who can make it out in the morning to this location. Andy is doing a "mobile town hall" at this Center and it's open to the public! 😁
We'll be there, will you?"

"An executive order issued by the Trump administration on Friday night, March 14, calls for the elimination of the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the nation’s only federal agency for America’s libraries.” @amlibraryassoc.bsky.social
Libraries are vital, providing access to information, technology, and learning. Cutting IMLS funding threatens these services, especially in underserved areas. Library funding isn’t political—it’s an investment in education, opportunity, and civic engagement. #LibraryLove #ForOurLibraries ala.org

Adolescence… wow! I was simultaneously in awe of the amazing performances by this cast and at times forgot they were acting and felt crushed by the weight of this devastating story. Heart-wrenching (especially as a mom of two teens), but a must watch.

Few housekeeping items for those who are new to this kind of severe weather threat. First, know where you are on a map. Warnings are issued by polygons. If one of those polygons pops up on the map, know if you're inside or outside of the polygon. Need help? Use GPS on your phone.

Spring break meal planning & I can't decide if it's still soup season or if I want everything grilled outside.

We also alternate constantly btw southern meat & three, NSNG (no sugar/grain) & vegetarian due to mixed preferences, which makes planning super FUN.

At least Friday is a no-brainer! 🍕🥧

When Amazon launched in 1995, there were 5,500 indie bookshops in the U.S., with 7,000 locations. By May of 2023, that number had decreased to 2,185 indies & 2,599 locations.

When you purchase audiobooks via Libro.fm vs. Audible, you directly support indie bookshops. Let's make that number grow ❤️

I had to resist the urge to listen to this entire audiobook in one sitting. So good. My only complaint is that it wasn't longer. I would have loved to spend more time with these people.

If any "Newfie grandma or grandpas" want to adopt me, I'd love to spend the next 4 years in Canada!
