Into all sorts of stuff: books, walks, films, astronomy, D&D, board games, drawing, history and the built environment. Widely suspected of neurodivergence.
A little sketch I did recently of a fox. Just copied another sketch I found on the internet.

Lovely chunky bark, spotted along the River Ure near Ripon.

A walk up Plover Hill and Pen Y Ghent amidst dramatic skies in the Yorkshire Dales. My first Dales peaks bagged and I’m looking forward to tick off some more.

Loads of butterflies this morning were just chilling on the pathways along my walk this morning.

Late again with my read pile for February 2025. All good. Particularly enjoyed The Story of the Forest by Linda Grant and The L-Shaped Room by Lynne Reid Banks. Returning to a little ancient greek as well, mainly to get some D&D inspiration. 💙📚

Catching up what I read in January 2025. Finishing off some children’s / fantasy books from the Christmas break. Trying out some D&D related fantasy this year. I thought The Orchard On Fire by Shena Mackay was brilliant. 💙📚

December was a good reading month, with a few children’s / fantasy books I tend to read this time of year. Kindred by @lemoustier.bsky.social is brilliant. 💙📚

Lots of teeny tiny fungi sprouting at the moment.

Books finished in November. Not a bad one amongst them. The du Maurier is “Vanishing Cornwall” - the spine has faded. I seem to be on a subconscious mission to read as many VMCs as I can. 💙📚

Lovely sky this morning. Plus a few lenticular clouds spotted on the school run.

Ferns of ice on the windscreen this morning. Made up for the treacherous journey from the front door.

💙📚 Another late entry, this time for titles read in October 2024. Typically my spooky month, so we have Robert Aickman on usual terrifying form, the wide-ranging collection of stories in the Virago Book of Witches, and the enormous Mysteries of Udolpho (which could have been shorter).

💙📚 Just catching up with book reading update for September 2024. They by Kay Dick is chilling. Drive Your Plow was an engaging and original who-done-it. I’m not sure about the Yoko Tawada titles.

Mushroom season is upon us.

💙📚Books read in August 2004. The Sally Hayden is essential reading in understanding how human migration operates. A Line In The World is a nice meditative exploration of the Danish coastline. South Riding was as good as I hoped it would be.

💙📚 Books I read in July 2024. Not sure which was my favourite; they were all good. Business As Usual was surprisingly funny. I expect to be getting through more Drabble and Spark in the near future.
