O God, we ask Thee not to lift us out of life but to prove Thy power within it, We ask not for tasks more suited to our strength but for strength adequate to our tasks. Give us the vision that inspires & the grace that endures. Save us from the sin of futile sorrow which only sees but does not act.

0400—Thou, Lord, art in the midst of us and we are called by Thy name. Help us remember Thee Who slept in the boat while they feared the storm, and how Thou didst wake to rebuke it; and give us whose courage fails the steadiness we need. Hold us close to Thee; and save us.
