Ooh! I guess I'm a veteran, too.

As an art teacher, I've found without exception that everybody can draw and that ALMOST everybody thinks they can't.

What a drab, gray, cold day.

Okay, we know that the road to Hell is paved with good intentions.
But...
Where did they get the funding and the right-of-ways?

Awww, somebody's beautiful!

It's amazing how, when you pull something lifting a thing, you suddenly become very careful about lifting with your legs, not your back when it's way too late.

I always dig your poetry moments. Also, since gothic romance is your thing, I want to direct you toward a book that blew me away. Now, the author didn't set out to write a gothic story, but the vibe just drips from every word. www.amazon.com/Load-Bearing... It's pretty cool.

I haven't noticed any Canadians about, but I live in Indiana, which probably isn't a first destination. We've been considering another trip on the Canadian from Toronto to BC (in Prestige class!), this time spending time in both places, not just transferring between trains. No firm plans, tho.

Damn. I have friends who were hoping they WOULD flee and free up some of those apartments.

Does anything really become winter in those parts? I tend to keep thoughts of BC in my mind all winter in order to keep myself warm. 😀 I would keep Florida or Texas in my mind, but that would be pretty terrifying, them being Florida and Texas, after all.

Ha! No, the only two vehicles they make are each about $100,000. But they're supposed to release something more reasonable in a few months. I believe in them, tho, but then, I believed in Tesla once, and that turned out poorly.
November 17, 2025 at 11:51 PM
I keep irrationally checking the Rivian website to see if they're making anything I can afford (and want), and also to reassure myself that they haven't yet gone evil, like Tesla did.

If you have to make an appointment to "touch grass," you've been doing your life the wrong way the whole time.

Except that team doesn't lose on purpose.

Why did that just now make me want a frosted donut?

First snow in Indianapolis. Only an inch or two for us and barely sticking to pavement. I guess South Bend north of us got about a foot.
November 10, 2025 at 3:41 PM
It should start snowing in the next ten minutes or so. Not crying 'woe is me.' We're supposed to get maybe an inch, and the roads will only be wet. South Bend won the prize with 5-12 inches thru the evening. We were just there at the Oliver Inn.

I've winterized the yard. Wind chimes, lawn furniture, fence decor, statuary, garden clogs, all in the garage until April. Grass mowed close, flower beds cleared, patio emptied. Sigh...
a man with a beard is looking at another man and saying `` winter is coming . ''
Alt: Sean Bean as Ned Stark from Game of Thrones, grimly throwing out the hard truth of Indiana, "Winter is coming."

Looks more like he's explaining it to adults at an undergraduate concentration in Humanities level.🙂

Well, it would take one hell of an advanced 5yo to not drift off during that explanation. But good try, Neil!

It's such a tragedy that air travel has been disrupted in the US. It's a horror story for the history books. It's almost as if there were no such things as buses or Amtrak.

I've said it before, and I know you might sniff at it, but this is absolutely the best song about a dog ever written. No schmaltz, no goofy nostalgia, just dog.
