I had intended to make the fresh-baked bread for the end-purpose of making French toast, to kind of make fun of those people who raid the grocery store just before a storm, buying up all the bread, milk, and eggs.
But I ran out of milk.

Just finished making two loaves of cornbread bread. Nice and hot and filling after hours of shoveling snow. And my girl is making chocolate chip cookies.

It's snowing like a son of a gun out here in Naptown. Blowing and drifting, but it looks to be averaging 8 inches right now and we still have 12 more hours of it to go.

The nice thing about this weather is I'm not worried about carbon monoxide poisoning as the car and the house are electric. The not nice thing is that, if the grid fails... But we've never experienced a power failure longer than 8 hours and that was just the one time in, like, 50 years.

Ahh, the hours before The Big Snow Storm. We're supposed to get 7-10 inches, which, as usual, sounds like nothing compared to some getting 2 feet or an inch of ice. Central Indiana really is God's country.

Social media is chockful of people whose whole thing seems to be missing the point of everything else.

And I've been reading James S.A. Corey's The Expanse series, which is good stuff but, man, they like the word 'was.' It's unrelentingly somebody WAS this or WAS DOING that. No one ever walks, they're always WAS WALKING. And no editor rooted that shit out.

Our new Las-Y-Boy recliner got delivered a few minutes ago. Feels funny. Higher than the last one. But comfy.

Ahh, the baking powder goodness of a home-baked biscuit. Hmm.

I hope Denmark drops a battalion of troops in Greenland, maybe with a French-partner company or two, with an anti-aircraft battery, and just DARES the US to do anything at all.

And here's the fourth of those five novels I've been working on since the beginning of Covid. The sequel to my cautionary tale about religion in government, Shining Star (from back in 2013!) and the eleventh part of my Nightwatch sorta series. Check it out:

I've been working on 5 novels over the last 5 years. Now, 2 of them are ready at about the same time. Here's the first, a military sci-fi/fantasy filled with Kaiju, boogiemen, Santa Claus, dragons, pixies, and man-eating spiders.

I'm tired of trying to be healthy. It's, like, an everyday nag.

I just saw a YouTube bit that I think is a deep fake. Jimmy Kimmel at his desk saying the Giant Baby has withdrawn the US from NATO and the EU has walked away as the European Defense Union. A complete split. Suspicious, I started looking. Can't find a word from any respectable news source.

Why don't they just fess up and re-name this season the Festival of the AAA Battery?

Also, we're scheduled to get one of those fancy December thunderstorms today. Lightning and liquid water from the sky. That hasn't happened in a while now.

27 more pages to edit in my latest novel. Then a few tweaks here and there. That means I may be publishing two novels in the next week or two (though I've been working on both of them for the past four years).

Last night, we watched It's A Wonderful Life, as one does. Great movie, but with 2 obvious faults.
1. The timeline is messed up; the years don't line up with reality. 🧐
2. Anyone who thinks Donna Reed would wind up a spinster is drowning in pureed bologna. That girl got options!😍

Presents wrapped and put away REALLY HIGH from the cats. And, right in time like every year, I have to say that Chicago XXV is the best Christmas album ever released.

For those who need to hear it, and coming from an artist: Stop bothering writers who use AI to create their cover art. Many can't afford a human artist. They're poor; they just can't. So, no one should care if they use AI because they were never going to use a human artist anyway.
