I rolled credits on Octopath Traveller 2.
I have really strong opinions on this game, both positive and negative, and DEFINITELY too many to fit in one post.
I would recommend it though, with some caveats.

This year was so ridiculously good for games, my backlog has never been longer. Coolest part is the breadth of it all.

The absolute best hybrid of turn-based RPG and survival horror I've ever played. It's quirky, funny, and genuinely scary. In a year of REALLY good indie games, this was easily one of my favourites.
It's like 10 dollars, easiest recommendation of my life.

Wanted to go on a trip with my partner to Toronto in April, just for one week, but air travel in Canada is literally so expensive that I can't afford to pay for the both of us to get there.

Octopath 2 feels like a game at odds with itself.
The combat is sublime, it's gorgeous to look at, the music is among the best I've ever heard, and yet its disjointed progression only ever serves to get in the way of my enjoyment.
I like it, sometimes I LOVE it, but it's definitely a mixed bag.

Walked out of a session and had a good cry today.
Ultimately, it was a little thing, but it was something I never thought I'd get the chance to work on. I've spent the last 5+ years hardening myself, as if to pretend I didn't care.
This was wrong of me. I do care. More than even I knew.
I'm happy
