Looe Key is a protected coral reef south of Big Pine Key Florida. It is located within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, and the reef is named after HMS Looe, a ship that sank after running aground on the reef in 1744.

1890, the Navy landed at Cedar Key to capture Mayor William Cottrell who was ruling the town as if he were a dictator-even forcing people he saw on the street to head-butt one another at gunpoint. He evaded capture fled but later died in a shootout w/ a sheriff in AL #CedarKey #Dictator #Florida
