I've been saying for a bit now that it is honestly absolutely embarrassing how quickly white people on the left went belly up the moment they got even the smallest taste of the oppression that poc and queer communities have dealt with for decades. Like, get your shit together

Every person going "OH NO, THEY'RE GONNA CANCEL/CHEAT/OVERRIDE THE ELECTIONS" is creating a potential opportunity for someone who is already scared to decided to not bother. And I'm just exhausted by how pitifully weak a lot of Americans are proving to be when they engage with this narrative.
February 5, 2026 at 6:57 AM
I'm not gonna chill. People like you need to have the awareness that you, by repeating this stuff, are effectively acting as propaganda mouthpieces. You need to assume that your every mention of "what if this, what if that" is going to convince someone it isn't worth the risk to show up.
February 5, 2026 at 6:57 AM
This is also assuming that 22,000 is accurate. And it probably isn't. It's likely closer to 12,000 and their system is just really dumb because they used a really shoddy AI for the hiring process. A lot of people marked as "active duty" don't actually work there.
February 5, 2026 at 6:39 AM
The swiftness with which the cis white community just fully went belly up the moment they got the smallest taste of oppression is honestly fucking embarrassing. I had to worry about getting assaulted in the streets long before all this. Get your shit together and nut up.
February 5, 2026 at 5:49 AM
Insofar as it still takes at least a 100 armed people to lock down a location against sufficiently motivated crowds? Yeah, the math still doesn't math. Sorry. Y'all need to stop being such bitches and stop looking for every fucking reason to not show up
February 5, 2026 at 5:44 AM
If we use just one city as an example, Philadelphia, to successfully surround every polling station in Philly with agents in a quantity that would actually matter, it would require 690,000 agents. In one city.
February 5, 2026 at 5:23 AM
For those who want to use their brain instead of just panic buttoning every single thing these people say until everyone is too scared to leave their houses (which is almost certainly their real goal here)...
February 5, 2026 at 5:23 AM
I did the math. And to just do this in one city (Philadelphia, I believe) in any quantity that would actually be effective and matter, they'd need 690,000 ice agents. For one city. So... I dunno, maybe we stop taking the grifter so seriously all the time.

It is my honest belief that the best course of action where Bannon is concerned is to treat him the same way we used to treat the basement dwelling internet trolls back in my day and just unilaterally ignore anything he says.
February 5, 2026 at 5:18 AM
I think that it is time for us all to collectively acknowledge that Bannon is a grifter who emerges from his basement periodically when the money runs out to run a grift and his entire strategy in his grift is "make the chuds go yay and the lefties go oh no!" And in that regard,
February 5, 2026 at 5:18 AM
I really need these people to stop being such bitches. It is absolutely embarrassing how quickly a lot of cis white people, especially since it is mostly cis white men, just went fully belly up the moment they tasted the smallest amount of oppression.

It's almost like the states run the elections, not the fed and Republicans still want elections because they want to run for governor and shit. Wild.
February 1, 2026 at 4:03 PM
Not this "oh no!" Doom and gloom shit I'm seeing in this comment section. He's saying nothing new and we always knew he was gonna bluster and threat harder and harder the closer we get to midterms.
February 1, 2026 at 1:15 PM
I dunno. Sounds like he is saying what he has been saying on repeat since last year. The dude is a consummate loser up late all up in his feels about it. Doesn't help that Dems are over here flipping safe red seats. Fuck you, make me is the energy of 2026

Unfortunately, there is a hierarchy to law enforcement. It's why the FBI can take over investigations. It's why marijuana consumption can still be illegal in certain locations even if the state legalized it. And it is why it is unrealistic to expect the police to intervene
January 31, 2026 at 3:03 PM
Taking action would effectively empower the regime to take further legal action against the city and state. Police intervention would be a liability, not a boon
January 31, 2026 at 2:57 PM
The real answer is a thing called federal supremacy. It prohibits action. The cops would end up being the ones in legal trouble for doing so.
January 31, 2026 at 2:56 PM
Jamelle, you are a voice of reason that helps me get through the day. I am so tired of hearing "America is no different than 1930s Germany" as if we aren't a vastly larger country with a vastly stronger constitution, and a vastly more defiant culture. Thanks for being a level head in these times.

The reality is that ICE is currently sitting on a 75 million dollar slush fund so an outright shut down wouldn't do much to them in the interim anyways. This creates leverage without harming agencies unrelated to DHS
January 30, 2026 at 6:50 AM
This allows for more time to negotiate concessions without forcing federal employees to be collateral. And the need for votes means that those concessions will either need to be made or DHS has no funding in 2 weeks.
January 30, 2026 at 6:50 AM
To be clear, that's not... Entirely what happened. They managed to get the DHS and ice funding peeled off from the main resolution so that federal employees didn't have to once again suffer financially through a shut down, and got the stop gap funding down from 6 weeks to 2 weeks.

All of this comes at the cost of stamina, a finite resource. Frivolity and joy are a need just as much as anything else. They recharge us and fend off burn out. You cannot care all the time. You cannot care about everything. And it is unkind to demand that everyone do so. Allow people to rest.
January 28, 2026 at 7:45 PM
To expect such is... madness. Truly, there is always something happening and unfortunately, it is unreasonable to expect a single person to care about every single one and take action against every single one. People still have rent and families to feed and jobs to attend in service of the priors.
January 28, 2026 at 7:45 PM
I saw a video of someone criticizing people for going out to eat or finding some small moments of joy in all of this crisis and I have thoughts. I think that it is a well-intended solipsism to expect people to just stop peopling every time that there is some tragedy or challenge in the world.
