This is where I'll post about my beloved passion project. Splice The Hedgehog is, (in its current state) an RPG I built almost entirely alone in RPGmaker 2003. It features a whopping 15 playable characters (1 optional) with different abilities and traits to solve puzzles in zones and dungeons alike.

Dude I just realized that I forgot Keela's bang in the SRB2 sprites I made a couple years ago. I went ahead and added that as I started on her Advance style sprite. Speaking of, here's how that's going as well. #sprites #OC #sonic #sonicthehedgehog

Cy didn't take long because I already updated her sprites pretty recently. That said, there was still room for color fixes, and I never redid her wings. The old wings were taken from somewhere but the new ones are from scratch. #OC #sprites #sonic #sonicthehedgehog

It's been a sleepy day staying home in this snowstorm, but i finally told myself to lock in and keep my word so here's Daz's update. Whether his hair looks better or worse now is hard for me to say: Spiky perms or whatever you'd call that style are not my forte. #OC #sprites #sonic #sonicthehedgehog
Two sprites of Daz the Hedgehog. Old is left, new is right. The old sprite is fairly recent by comparison to previous updates, so the outfit didn't change much outside of the gloves (which I had just forgotten to update from an even older design.)

my daily spriting effort is going pretty well. Told myself I'd only do one sprite per day but I've been going a bit further than that since a lot of these only needed minor updates. Pearl on the right is still a WIP, but she already looks so much better. #OC #Sprites #Sonic
Two sprites of Speedy the Hedgehog. Left is old, right is new. There are slight color corrections, an adjustment to his shoes and the addition of his short forehead spikes from his SpTH artwork. Very subtle, finishing touches here. Two sprites of Pearl the Echidna. Left is old, right is new but unfinished. There are major adjustments to the color palette, making Pearl's fur and hair brighter, skin paler, and clothes significantly less saturated by contrast. Her face has been slightly tweaked, and eyes a lighter shade of blue.

Of course, now that RPG Paper Maker's 3.0 pre release just dropped, I'm going to be spending more of my time trying to remake the game in this new engine. I probably won't be posting anymore actual updates in 2k3 outside of the character spotlight videos and other gameplay examples.

So for #screenshotsaturday, here's my experimental zone title card! It's really nothing fancy looking, but a simple approach is best for this style of gameplay. Zones in SpTH don't play like your typical 2D platformer.

It's been a while! I've been trying to fit gamedev back into my regular schedule with my new day job. Just to get back into the groove of things, I've been experimenting with some game assets and seeing how they look in RPG2k3. I've been scouring Spriters-Resource all week for ideas.

I'm not updating any charsets however so I apologize in advance for crusty discrepancies like these! #gamedev #OCs

For #screenshotsaturday, here's the last piece of footage from my old video to briefly introduce Splice. Here we see an example of his field abilities and his fighting style. I'd love to see what I can do without the engine limitations of rpg2k3 later on.

Some bosses have or are mostly puzzle phases, like in the quoted video. Here's a boss mechanic I designed a while back. Though it's not new, I spruced it up last night and added some visuals to make it clearer how it works.

For Screenshot Saturday, I can show my magnum opis of rpgmaker mapping. Some years ago, I made a pretty faithful recreation of the train station from Sonic Adventure. Station Square's one of the main cities in SpTH.
