I took this photo at the Marambio Base in Antarctica Argentina. It was almost winter and at 1pm the sun was setting over the frozen ocean. Humans were the only multicellular organisms that could be seen for kilometers. A truly enchanting desert.

Araucarias were there before grass existed, lived alongside dinosaurs and outlived them. Very few native araucaria forests exist in the world, one of them is in the Lanin National Park in Patagonia, Argentina. This is thanks to preservation policies that have been in place for almost a century.
