WRCCDC just finished and it was a ton of fun! The scenario was based on SCP and Control (video game) and teams had to deal with securing their servers and stopping anomalies from escaping!

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told senators he’d apologize if data showed vaccines don’t cause autism.

Scientists worldwide have spent two decades researching this, and the result is clear: vaccines do not cause autism. Instead, he cited a flawed study.

I feel for everyone affected by the fires in LA and with all the fires burning right now "Los Angeles is Burning" is trending again. Good time to remember the song isn't actually about fires and probably more relevant then ever.

Periodically I open up X, and then just close it again. Unchecked hate and disinformation just does not make a good platform. Then again it's also burned me out of social media so there's that.

This is a very interesting research poll showing that X is the majority of influencer based news. It looks like buying Twitter helped drive a lot of what we're seeing happen with this election and probably beyond. Hopefully BlueSky can pick up momentum even more. www.pewresearch.org/journalism/2...

Anyone have any idea of the legal implications of employees of IBM pushing Apache2 license onto projects? Thousands of repos have had an automated message suggesting a license change. Even empty repos are even getting hit: github.com/B00TK1D/qisk.... Full List here: tinyurl.com/3ba4b6j4.

Extremely grateful that @bsideslv.org has a masking policy. Being immunocompromised or struggling in any other way makes things challenging, and having a little protection and piece of mind is a huge thing. Thank you! One of the only conferences I plan to do this year.

How come every modern error-correcting file system actually has corruption bugs or risks? BRTFS and ZFS both have issues. Is there a truly reliable error-correcting file system right now?

Is there an app like hootsuite that lets you use all the modern social platforms? Twitter/X, bsky.app, Mastodon, Facebook, Threads, etc? I want to just publish a single post to everything for @wrccdc.org

Looking up the curl CVE and I find this, pretty sure its the same guy. I'm glad bug bounties exist now even if not perfect, help protect people from making mistakes and companies from going after researchers.

Remember when Google used to make reasonable ads and every ad blocker excluded them? Now they're going to join the rest in blocking people who have ad blockers. https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/technology/youtube-tests-restricting-ad-blocker-users-to-3-video-views/
