Anyone who is truly interested in a better Ottawa needs to be putting all their effort into de-amalgamating the rural wards.

I emailed my councillor about Lansdowne 2.0 and got pretty much nowhere.
The mayor runs a tight ship. It amazes me how people enter politics, seemingly with a mind of their own and big ideas, and then just fall in line.

This is a great article which demonstrates how it is easy to get caught up in the surface level of Lansdowne 2.0, which seems like a good idea as most people know the arena and North stands aren't the best, but when you look closer the whole thing kinda unravels into a giant corporate giveaway
I used to be in favour of the Lansdowne 2.0. I've changed my mind ottawacitizen.com/news/local-n...

2 Live Crew were banned over spicy rap lyrics and had to take their case all the way to the Supreme Court but suicide coaching and non-consensual deepfakes are apparently ok.
Can you guess what the difference is?

I seem to remember whole congressional hearings about the terrible destructive force that is violence in video games and yet, there is a very strange quiet about an unregulated technology that coaches people to suicide.
There are no words for how evil this is

Pushing back on a country that threatened to annex you is not "xenophobia" or "protectionism" it is a rational response to an unprovoked attack.
The idea that those pushing for Canada to own more of its own infrastructure is somehow "irrational" is absurd.

“Anointed”, “cavernous”, the New York Times is pissed lol
Shortly after Zohran Mamdani was anointed the mayor-elect of New York City on Tuesday, he strode onto the stage of a cavernous theater in Brooklyn and delivered a victory speech that celebrated New York’s immigrants, working class and young people. Follow live: nyti.ms/3X9h35I
