Thank god December is over, it is grind time gamers. Let's see if we can do another podcast ep.

My December mental hibernation has just been playing Marvel Rivals and shitposting on Twitter lmao

End of year mental hibernation.

Always feels like I should be making myself do more but this time I am just going to relax through December.

The interesting thing about interacting with overthinkers is learning how much thought is required to figure out how to think less.

Very observant people who see a lot of variables and constants which demands a really good process for simplifying things down to usable formulas or they struggle.

So the ADHD things that pop into my head that I normally tweet, I've been saving as podcast topic ideas.

Good news is I think it'll make for better quality conversations but the bad news is I have nothing to tweet lol

Lotta success is just taking the risk and getting started. A flawed attempt is more valuable than a perfect execution never presented.

Need to listen to more podcasts and see if that triggers any inspiration on improvements. Also might need to setup some way of having people suggest topics 🤔

I did not expect to hit 1k on this app so soon

Tagmata signed up for coaching and said "I am doing well in locals but I can't make that final push to GoD" and then 2 hours after the session sent a screenshot of him hitting GoD.

FG players often think they "can't adapt fast enough in FT2" and that they need to fix their pattern recognition when the issue is that their layer 1 gameplay is just not setting them up to see any digestible or important patterns from the opponent.

No matter what Tekken game you prefer we can all agree that we want better movement

I think one of the best optimizations I've made in my fighting game learning process is determining if it's a game where I'm primarily meant to either:

A) Do mean stuff and adjust it as the opponent's counters
B) Keep it solid until I see the opportunities to do mean stuff

My plan to play Strive is currently being foiled by inability to navigate the menus

I am typically pretty cynical about this type of advice, but I keep running into people that have never experienced “the thing” just the thing about the thing.

Please don’t do that to yourself.
If there is one bit of wisdom I can pass on from my near-40s, it's that spending time doing a thing you love is a thousand times more valuable than spending time reading or watching other people talk about that thing.

Just go do the thing. Put down the phone and go do it.

Do it.

My girl think the new Guilty Gear Strive character is cool so if you see me on that game just know god has given me one of his toughest battles.

Jin Kazama is so crazy. If you try to play him like you're good at Tekken then it doesn't work out but if you just start doing the moves then magic happens.

Steve Fox is a great character to teach the lesson that offense isn't all about low/mid mixups.

"So basically you want me to turn my brain off and go in?"

"No I want you to keep your brain on and go in"

This interaction summarizes all my time spent teaching Tekken 8 😂

Typically, the answer is getting better at paying attention to context.

Making reads is all about looking at the information in front of you and coming to a conclusion.

A lot of the times people believe they're bad at coming to conclusions but the prob is they aren't aware of enough information.
easier to get a read of when they’re gonna do something.
The issue for me would be when i’m not the one imposing the rythm i have a hard time understanding what my opponent is trying to get me to do. 2/2
