Mastodon just announced that new users will be offered a default server that they can then change if they wish. I think this will go a long way with helping alleviate some of the onboarding friction.

It’s so true. I pay for Discord for custom profiles and emojis and it’s totally worth it. I enjoy the product and want to support it! The bird app is a different story…
