Today's the three-year anniversary of my stroke.

I've recently had my fascination with fungus rekindled. The idea that mushrooms are just fruiting structures that it uses to spread its spores, and the main "body" of the fungus is the mycelium in the ground, was so weird to me when I first learned it.

Picture this: A grid of pentagons, made up entirely of straight lines that intersect other lines at right angles. The pentagons tile perfectly and completely fill the space.

I have permanent tinnitus that never stops. It's not distressing, and it usually only gets louder when I focus on it, so most of the time I can just ignore it and go about my day like it's not even there. But sometimes I wish I were able to hear true silence again.
