When the flowers are in full bloom and there is plenty of pollen, these black bees look like they are really enjoying bathing in the flower heads.

Of course they are collecting pollen, but cross pollinating at the same time. Good for everyone.

As a species, ants spend so much time working in unison and for the greater good. (Us humans could learn a lot from them!).

These two are shifting a large seed that would be too heavy to move on their own.

The end of the line for this ant!

Very hard to get these small ants into focus.

Face to face with this little soldier. They are bold and inquisitive and they can give you a bit of a bite as well.

This one has already been in a battle or two and has lost part of its antenna.

I'm not good on naming birds (always open to some help), but this little chap was enjoying a bath in the garden fountain.

In the hotter weather it is a good focal point for the birds.

When not doing macro, I am happy to shoot (photographically) a few birds as well...

This little Yellowhammer was hanging around during a sandwich break. 👍

On a recent trip to Asturias towards the end of summer, I have a chance to get a few evening seascapes along the coast.

I like doing panoramic shots as you can get large images with good detail. Thanks for looking. 👍😀

When spiders are really small, we don't get to see the amazing details of their hairy little bodies - this one with six eyes, all reflecting the ring flash.
This little jumping spider is about 5mm long and not much bigger than the flies it hunts for.

Wasps! I have always been a bit fearful of these guys, but getting up close to get shots like this has helped. The closer you get and the more you watch them, the better you understand their behaviour...and warnings! 😜

It is great to see the whole family, big and small, at work. This shot from the side shows the aphids feeding on the sap. Even the angle that they feed at is ideal for the ants to collect the honeydew that they produce at the rear end! 😋

Another in the Ant series. Here is a stalk full of aphids that are busy feeding on the sap of the plant. The ants are on patrol and will fight off anything else that comes to try and feed on the aphids.

Following on from the last post, this is a solitary hunter looking for more aphids to capture. Whilst this one is away, others will be guarding the flock!

Having spent a lot of time photographing ants, they are pretty amazing creatures. They hunt for, capture, and then herd aphids into groups. They guard these and feed off the honeydew that the aphids produce. Symbiotic relationship- or protection money!🤔

This is another little crab spider - yellow one this time. I think that they come close because they see themselves in the lens.🙂

New to Bluesky, but hoping that it might be a good place to see other peoples photography and to show a few of my own images. Thanks for looking! Cheers.
