May you find your worth in the waking world
I haven't been paying too much attention to Nioh 3, but we finally know all the weapons that will be in the game.

Even though some weapons seem to be in both Samurai and Ninja styles, they are actually treated as completely different weapons (with different skills.) I'm hyped now.

(Just found out I need to collect all the lost fleas in order to unlock Act 3 in Silksong)

I've been ok with Silksong runbacks. I learn how to kill enemies quickly, or my platforming skills improve, and find satisfaction in optimizing the route. But Bilewater really pushed the limit. It's not even the length, its that bench to boss has so much RNG that every attempt is annoying.

Getting back into Silksong after a 2 week break and my skills came back surprisingly quickly. If anything, I'm enjoying it even more because I expect to be bad, so I'm not as frustrated when I die.
But then I got this achievement after 30 hours of play time. This game is insanely dense...

Silksong PSA: There are at least 2 completely different ways to reach Act 2, and one way is harder. The Steam achievement stats seem to support this. All this to say, if you are stuck due to apparent difficulty, try a different route. There's no reason to do the hard way first like I did.

Near the end of Shinobi, and had a thought. The combat doesn't really get harder (if anything it's easier) because your growing combat abilities outpace the enemy difficulty.
But the platforming does get harder because the more abilities you get, the more complex the levels get to match.

Decided to treat myself for Labor Day and pick up Shinobi. So far I'm having a great time, but I can see the critique that it is not sufficiently old-school. Funny enough, it actually reminds me of Guacamelee. Similar combo-heavy combat, puzzle-platforming, and a fairly easy modern design.

Hmm, it appears I have been sleeping on Igorrr. Previously Youtube only ever recommended me their "Very Noise" video so I mistakenly assumed they were some mostly electronic D&B group. But this is actually super interesting prog metal.

Woah, Lost Soul Aside is releasing in less than 24 hours? Is it just me or was there almost no marketing for this? I would have thought Sony would have thrown more money at hyping up the launch.

Wuchang finished. I enjoyed it enough, but I have no desire to play NG+.
I think it is less than the sum of its parts: A capable engine often used for brown caves and shacks, complicated level design without a greater purpose, and a combat system that doesn't build up to anything. 7/10

I've put enough hours into Wuchang to have some initial impressions. It feels clunky and slow; basic actions feel like molasses. But your enhanced special attacks feel great, so it seems like a deliberate choice. I'm going to play more, but Lies of P and Khazan feel way better than this.

Success! This might be the proudest I've been to finish a game on "Standard Mode." It wasn't close either. My first win on Malenia, Isshin, etc. were all messy, desperate affairs. But here I was a complete bad-ass because that's the only way to survive. There's no room for sloppiness.

Day 3 of trying to beat the final Nine Sols boss. Probably one of the hardest bosses ever. There are so many patterns to learn that I gave up and used YouTube to learn them faster. But it's still taking hours to be able to react to them in game. Not sure if it's more awesome or frustrating.

The Nikke DLC boss for Stellar Blade was something. Hardest boss in the game in terms of attacks and damage, and even an insta-kill mechanic. But also very easy to knockdown and combo, so you can turn it into more of a back-and-forth tug-of-war. Not sure if its worth the money to be honest.

Stellar Blade is a weird game. It tries to do so much and yet is fairly clumsy at almost everything. Only the boss battles feel cohesive; everything else feels like they copied other games with out really understanding them. Yet despite it all I'm having a pretty enjoyable time with it.

Started Compiling Shaders (aka Stellar Blade). It's surprisingly clunky at the start. The basic combat feels quite bad, (especially coming off two SK bangers: Lies of P and Khazan). Fortunately it's improving with some upgrades, but the fundamentals are a bit shaky.

Obligatory "don't play gacha games" caveat, but ZZZ 2.0 patch introduced a new character, and this is the accompanying EP's cover.

I can't help but feel joy when I see devs having fun with things.

(She's part of a martial arts temple, hence the old-school kung fu cover.)

Apparently I missed this, but here's a short free game to unwind. Each maze has some sort of twist, and the whole thing can be done in an hour or so. Not bad for $0.

I think I'm giving up on Blue Prince. I love the puzzle-solving, but the RNG (particularly in the post-game) is too tedious. The rogue aspect is actually pointless; it doesn't even matter if I complete the run. I'm just trying to get certain combinations of rooms/items to appear.

I'm kind of mixed on Sleep Token, but Mike Dawes has been making banger acoustic covers of metal songs for quite a while now, and this one also slaps. The way he pulled of the ending in particular is very impressive if you know the original.

I completed The First Berserker: Khazan, true ending, no summons. The last boss was brutal and took me several days. Overall, 8/10 really enjoyed it. I felt it was missing a feature to switch weapons on the fly. The last 1/3 was grueling as a GS user due to all bosses with magic and flying.
