"Final Fantasy" is a hard concept to describe. It's more of like an "essence". I know it when I see it.
My odd take is I ADORE this game. Yeah, it feels more God of War at times and probably barely counts as an RPG. But it is unmistakably "Final Fantasy", and IMO a top-tier one.

I still stand by that and, now, it’s time to talk about why you should play Midnight Club 3, and the series in general

I haven't been looking forward to this post because I really don't like being a hater and I know XV has a lot of fans. So I'm sorry in advance. But my honest feelings are this is the most disappointing game I have ever played. It seriously broke my heart (in a bad way).

I'm not an MMO person at all. But after playing this I can wholeheartedly say this is peak FF. It's right up there with the best.
I pretty much ignored the "MMO" part. In my mind this is more like 5 (mostly) single player FF games with a connected story.

It's been a long time for these two and my memory has gotten fuzzy.
I remember liking XIII-2, not amazing but it was a solid enough game (pretty similar feelings to XIII).
Lightning Returns I remember not liking that much for some reason.

While I had played a bit of FF before, the hype leading into this game is what got me to lock in and play most of the series. I started at IV and worked my way up to XIII.
As for XIII, it's a pretty good game but a step back in some ways. Still, I'd like to replay it this year.

Anyway, watch Aria.

Themes of bonds and connections, kindness and love, meetings and goodbyes, beginnings and ends...they're not new ideas and yet this series finds a way to seep in. Slowly at first, you don't even realize it's happening. Then you get to the final few episodes and BAM! 🥹

I've always thought this game was a great direction for the series. Large zones to explore, the License Board, and Gambits. Better voice acting (though compressed). And it takes place in Ivalice!
Opinions were mixed at the time but I think it's improved a lot since the remaster.
