HMG's inability to speak publicly about the impetus and constraining factors behind this agreement has become simply untenable. I understand there will be further detail once the deal is signed, but the costs of the information vacuum have been extremely high.

I'm glad Congress has pushed for this necessary ban of TikTok, but the delays imposed by the Biden administration's review in 2021 and the heel-dragging in Congress has now increased the social and political costs of the ban to a significant degree. All sadly foreseeable.
Tiktok poured tons of time money and energy into trying to appease lawmakers, but still is facing a ban because of the company’s ties to China.

not sure how elected officials didn’t see this coming… Chinese Tiktok clones are now at the top of the app stores, with none of that work or history
