I am running the London Lea Valley 50km in March and trying to raise some money for Step Forward - a youth centre in Tower Hamlets, Kiddo attends their LGBTQIA+ group and it's been such a brilliant and supportive space for them, which feels so important when trans youth are under constant attack.

Okay but like I just ran 2x2km at a pace that used to be my target 200m interval pace and that is actually wild.

And proof that showing up works.

Goal for next week: do the warm ups before I just start running.

Work on the cool downs later.

Trying to tell myself that this morning’s transport stress is also part of why we do training races. To deal with stress that arises on race day.

Hopefully there won’t be quite this much stress on proper race days.

For runners who don’t usually listen to The Daily, today’s episode is an interview with Killian Jornet, and well worth listening to.

I’m kind of sick of the ‘running used to be for everyone but influencers are gatekeeping’ because what I hear is ‘I don’t follow slower, female, or traditionally underrepresented runners on social media media or I’m actively engaging in rage baiting!’

I’m attempting to game my @garmin.com by recording (some) walks to try and get my low aerobic load which is always way, way under my ‘optimal range’.

Listening to the most recent Trail Runner Nation podcast episode and it reminds me that one of the things I adore so much about ultra running is how genuinely open and welcoming it is, and how that extends so fully to women.
