Gov. Brian Kemp’s budget proposals for Georgia Public Broadcasting neither replace federal funds nor make significant cuts to state appropriations. But past cuts to GPB’s state funding originated in the State Senate later in the legislative session.

There's lots of money to be made in journalism if you monetize access and suck up to power. There's also a cost to democracy and credibility.

This is who Cox spent half a billion on while colonizing public media in Atlanta.
20 years ago, Jim VandeHei and Mike Allen left The Washington Post and Time magazine to start Politico.

“We alone didn't start this fire. But we surely lit or fanned it — then had front-row seats to witness the blaze.”

Cox-owned Axios would get this scoop just to taunt me.

Remember what Steve always says: "There are no conspiracies but there are also no coincidences."

I wrote about The Atlanta Journal-Constitution ending print, why I criticize it from the Progressive left, and why Atlanta shouldn't equate "saving the AJC" with "saving local journalism."

To the Last Barrel of Ink: Why I’m Still Arguing with the AJC.
Atlanta’s billionaire-owned newspaper of record ended print editions by curating its own, and the city’s, history. Unsurprisingly…

And this NPR interview with Robert Draper about his profile of Marjorie Taylor Greene does't mention her efforts to defund public media.

The NYTs lengthy profile of MTG doesn’t mention her leading the fight to defund public media. Its new profile of NPR CEO Katherine Maher, while mentioning the Anti-American Airwaves hearing, attributes it to Republicans in Congress without mentioning Greene.

Breaker, a gossipy New York-based media newsletter, was given an exclusive scoop on tomorrow's front page of the final print edition of the AJC.

It includes a front page pieces by Cox Ent. Chairman Emeritus James Cox Kennedy.

I’m hoping to write a piece about how the AJC is curating its own history as it ends print editions. I likely won’t post it until the New Year, but today’s inclusion of a full-page article, "College radio keeps its cool," in the final Sunday print edition is certainly a choice.

Over the weekend a pop-up gallery used one of the currently vacant stores in L5P.

There's a lot of turnover in small retail + who knows what lies ahead so it was cool to see one of the empty spaces used for creative purposes.

I believe 7 Stages Theater started in a shop around the corner.
