Today my heart is with Cambria and Elle Harris, who after nearly three tireless years have located the body of their mother, Morgan Harris, found in Prairie Green Landfill in Winnipeg.

Morgan Harris and three other Indigenous women were murdered by convicted serial killer Jeremy Skibicki in 2022.

This morning, Leonard Peltier was released from over 49 years of wrongful incarceration. Peltier is an enrolled citizen of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians and will reside on his Tribal homelands in North Dakota.

Leonard’s homecoming into Turtle Mountain, after being taken away for five decades, consisted of around 100 vehicles lined up on both sides of HWY 281. Elders, families, youth, and long-time supporters showed up to Turtle Mountain for their ogichidaa (warrior).

After two years of organizing to protect the Black Hills from mining, the Dept of Interior announced that Sec. Deb Haaland signed “Public Land Order 7956”, which finalized protections for the Pactola Reservoir–Rapid Creek Watershed from mining and development for 20 years!
