the black sheep she adopts are often socially awkward or anxious. sometimes they've never felt so welcomed before in their lives. there is a euphoric honeymoon period when you first meet tiff. and if you're favored enough, you get a chance to win a community award, or hear your favorite voice actor say your name if she happens to have the right connections. these are transactional, parasocial relationships by nature. a lot of my personal interactions with tiff boil down to 'she wasn't very good to me' and 'i was too intimidated to say so at the time'. i will refrain from airing most of it out. i don't even know if she realizes how she wasn't good to me, or that that was even the case at all. from relatively early on, i made a concerted effort to decenter tiffany from my xiv social life. i made friends in our free company and stopped relying on her presence to interact with people. i came out of my shell. she was a point of introduction for many precious relationships in my life, but she was not the central point of contact for long. i did not want to burden the streamer with having to babysit me. i did not want to make her think i was clout-chasing, as she often insinuated was the case if someone only joined vc or social events if she was around. in short, i de-centered tiffany from my xiv social life, and for that, i think i come out of this relatively unscathed, especially compared to victims to whom she had better access. that is not their fault. it is her responsibility. i want to provide some insight into the birthday fiasco detailed in the doc. tiffany's birthday is largely a community-planned event, meant to be a day of pampering, celebration, and making her feel appreciated enough to keep doing all she does for us. it is a transactional holiday by nature. her birthday is planned by a small group of regulars, usually lead by a single regular, in a separate server that is not advertised to the general community. in 2024, life happened and the event was not as tediously planned in years previous. we scrambled to get something together. while there were plans to get a more elaborate gift put together, there just wasn't enough time. what we presented to tiffany on the day of her birthday was not up to her standards and expectations. she got a kudoboard of messages and artwork, largely just from those of us in the planning server. as she moped publicly on stream and in dms, including mine, i was putting together an ardbert-themed ita bag for her. community members were generous enough to pay for merch or create their own. it was all sent to me, and i decorated the bag. she got it in time to open it live for the tiffies. i sewed and pinned hundreds of dollars of merch to that bag, and i didn't even know if she would want it. but i sent it, along with some other trinkets--some from my own collection--to try to make the gift 'big' enough. 'grand' enough. i was so stressed about it that i got sick multiple times. luckily, she seemed to like the gift. i remember her reaction being a good one on stream. i'm glad. that bag was made with genuine love for her community. and a whole lot of desperation, guilt, and anxiety. but clearly we had made mistakes that were to never again be repeated. i cannot begin to describe the atmosphere of her server and streams after her birthday. it felt like we were all being punished. how poorly the day went was brought up on multiple occasions. it was dangled over our heads. we had been bad. she talked about cancelling the tiffies in retaliation. she talks about cancelling the tiffies a lot, as if she is being held hostage to put on a show for a bunch of people she hates. tiffany, if you're reading this: i know i'm not the only person that tells you to take a break if you dislike it so much. using it as a bargaining chip is so unfair. and it soils the spirit of the event, which is supposed to be YOU giving BACK to the community in thanks and celebration. treating it like something that people need to earn is, in part, emblematic of the attitude you have that leads people to being quiet. don't upset her! she'll take away our toys! i was lucky enough to get a cameo from peter bramhill that year for the tiffies, as i won an award for #1 nutkin fan, something that's been in my search info for a long time. it was really special. it meant a lot to me. i don't know if he'd ever want to do one for me again. these kinds of grand gestures on both parts add to a culture of not rocking the boat. if you are good to tiff, she will be good* to you (on her own terms, maybe in ways that make it apparent she actually doesn't even know you). i know it seems nice on the surface. it sounds very lovely. but, tiff... it's transactional. it's parasocial. it's unbalanced. please know that a community that is allowed to grow strong together independent of you is more stable than the environment you have been fostering these last few years. it is unhealthy for you to have people that pay you to give them attention, and that to be your main source of connection and human interaction. it is unhealthy for you to use your pool of viewers for personal gratification of every kind. branch out. log off. please. i have met absolutely incredible people because you fostered those introductions. you should be proud in how you are able to bring people together... but you should not be at the center of it all. you should be a facilitator for community, not controlling micromanagement. as long as you have access to a vulnerable population, i don't know if i trust your motives, to be frank. i wish you were in a position to take an extended break from your supply of attention, sympathy, and, frankly, ass-kissing enablers. i think you need it. desperately. stick with treatment. stick with therapy. listen to the hard truths. please do not let there be another john, or another dozen other people you have hurt so deeply. i wish you all the best with healing. but my god i can't unlearn these terrible, awful things about you. you are a serial manipulator. you are a habitual liar. you use gossip to garner sympathy or bully people in your community. you use people for personal gain. you pull people into your mess so they can clean it up for you. there are dozens more people that could be in this doc. dozens. this will take years of constant, proven improvement to ever undo. i hope you're ready.

As a victim of abuse who has a lot of trust issues, I understand the sentiment behind "sure glad I trusted my gut about that person. knew something was off!" I've felt it before.
