I make my mugs in Washington. my favorite glazes and underglazes come from Canada. the equivalent American underglaze do not give me the coverage I need to make perfect black and white orcas.

Last weekend after NCECA I took an advanced underglaze class with @caitienorth - what an amazing class! Had a great time and I’m excited to try out some new techniques! Thank you Caitie!

So there’s a big rainbow whale statue in a residential neighborhood in Salt Lake City and I had to see it. It was a 10 minute drive from my hotel so I grabbed a lime scooter and went for it. It’s a lot longer than 10 minutes by scooter but I got there!!!

This is the colored clay agateware experiment. The first mug has the premade clay swirled in. The second mug is without. It came out much darker and less green than I expected. More experiments to come.
