Bark flips! All the mancae have congregated under the "feeding" bark, and all the adults under the cork bark on the wet side.

Seen four confirmed mancae in my isopod tank now! And last night i saw a mature isopod with a VERY swollen marsupium. Couldn't make out any little pairs of eyes in there, but she looked just about ready to go. Very pleased conditions are satisfactory

Got a tropical pink culture! Really hoping no dwarf whites that were stored on the same shelf slipped in. Dunno that they'd last long on this substrate at least

Current dream isopod; Porcellio magnificus. All the spanish "giants" are gorgeous, but i cant resist how shrimpesque these guys are. They are big and territorial and do not breed year round, so they are a little trickier to keep in a colony.

Someone molted in the night! Hopefully that means moisture and calcium levels in the tank are good. Wanted to get a closer pic, but it was pretty chewed up by the time i got to it

Added a few more fellas for a more sensible colony size of 8. They are very confident now. Havent seen this bit of carrot without a pod on it since i put it in

Isopod dinner from last night. 3 peas and a sliver of chicken served on a lettuce leaf. Tried to get a pic of them eating, but my tank maintenance spooked em until i went to sleep

Getting cold out. Clocks ticking on getting some isopods this year. I keep seeing lots of pretty little powder blues in my bathroom. Might set a little cucumber trap to snag a few once i have an enclosure ready.
