Having a lot of fun coming up with these kinds of scenarios 😈
A picture started to form on the screen; The graphics of the game were hilariously rudimentary. Within the void of a black background, was a path, rendered in an eye-wateringly teal-blue color. And in the middle of that path, a red square. “Check it out, baby!” Raigengrau pointed towards the screen. “It’s...The Maze.” He spoke in an overdramatic tone, the multilayered chorus that made up his voice speaking with exaggerated awe. “Shit’s real simple. You play as the little square thingy, and you just gotta get yourself to the end of the maze, to that red area.” He wagged a clawed digit towards the crimson platform at the end of the path. “Easy-peasy!” His lips twisted, forming a wicked smirk. “Oh yeah. By the way, don’t touch the walls.” If you were able to, you would have rolled eyes out of your head. You weren’t stupid. You knew exactly what this was. You remember playing this stupid game back in the high school computer lab. One of your friends got you to try it, as a joke, a way to kill some time. Your friend never told you that, upon bumping into one of the walls, or trying to finish the game’s impossible final stage, you’d be met with a deafeningly loud jumpscare. You never exactly regretted kicking your buddy in the balls for that one. Raigengrau watched your shoulders sink. “Now, now…” He loomed over you. “I know what you’re thinkin’.” Suddenly, two clawed hands reached into the cardboard box. Before you could react, he pinched your head between his index and thumb-claws, while holding your body stable with his other hand. “‘Oh, Raiggy! I’ve played this shit before! I know exactly what’s gonna happen!”’ As he mocked you with a high-pitched falsetto, he maneuvered your jaw with his digits. “’There’s no way to win this game! I’m just gonna get scared and piss my pants!”’ The giant dragon released you, leaving your jaw aching. “Well, good news, buckeroo!” Raigengrau continued in his normal tone. “This one’s a bit different! You...technically CAN win this one! Just gotta get to the end of Level 3 without hittin’ a wall and you’re home free! I’ll let you outta this box and then you can go live your wonderful little life. Or lives. You know, considering the whole reformation shit ya’ got goin’ on.” You blinked. “Freedom?” You silently hoped to yourself. “He’ll finally let me go…?” “Buuuuuuuuu~t…” Raigengrau purred. “If you fuck it all up...well…” He trailed off, looking towards the ceiling in thought. “Well, I ate ya’ more than a few times...so, I think this time, I’m gonna treat you like the bug you are.” “I’m gonna turn you into a stain underfoot, if you don’t make it outta this one.” Your body recoiled, like the words had been a physical blow. The casual way he delivered his threat, all with that smile on his face…your legs quaked with terror. “Oh, also-” Raigengrau glanced at his claws, rubbing them together. “-you think you’re just gonna see a scary picture if you fail, right?” “You’re gonna wish that was all you saw.” He let out a soft chuckle. “You’ve heard of the term ‘Scared to Death’, right? We’re gonna see just how far we can get ya’ there, before you undergo your transformation.” He paused. “That is, your transformation from…” Raigengrau gestured at you. “...whatever the fuck you are, into a nice, pulpy mess, under my soles.” You ended up flopping onto the couch. Not because you wanted to, but because your shuddering legs finally gave out. “Awww, cheer up!” Raigengrau perked his ears. “I mean, if you’re really such a scaredy-cat, who knows?” “You might be dead from sheer fright alone, before I get to ya.”

I went there.
You shakily reached for the controller. “I just...gotta stop thinkin’ about what might happen.” You tried to reassure yourself. “If he isn’t lying-if I can truly beat this...I’m home free.” You took a deep breath. Inhale. Exhale. Again. In. Out. The frantic rhythm of your heart slowed. “Aw, how cute! He’s ‘locking in’!” Raigengrau teased. You ignored him, trying to tune out his voice, as you maneuvered the box through the first level; A simple straight line and a single turn to the right. “Oooooh!” Raigengrau spoke in that mockingly awe-inspired tone again. “Level COMPLETE! That looked like a real hard one, baby. Some real “Dark Souls” difficulty right there!” You piloted your little red square through level 2, a series of curves that snaked their way through the void. All too easy. Meant to be easy, in fact, as a way to lull the player into a false sense of security. “But hey, just think of it.” Raigengrau truly didn’t know how to just shut up, even when you were trying to focus. “’Dark Souls’ ain’t got nothin’ on me! Especially when you end up dyin’ underneath my ‘Dark Soles!’” You wondered if Raigengrau had suddenly decided to change tactics, considering these puns were far more deadly than anything he had ever put you through before.
