There’s no great achievement in kicking a sad-sack opponent to the curb, but it was how the Bears won a fourth game in a row — for the first time since 2018 — that counted.

There was irony in Counsell returning for Game 5 to try to pile onto the Brewers’ pain, because so many of the team's bitter endings came on Counsell’s watch and tore at his heart, too.
