My farm partner saw a post asking if quail could be bred to be “olive eggers”, as chickens can. I scoffed… but collecting eggs today, I couldn’t deny that “celadon” comes in several shades (as well as varying degrees of speckles/ freckles).

On your mark, get set… DUCK! So many thanks to Ivan and his Welsh Harlequin duck, and to our own Runner duck, for these eggs which (fingers crossed!) hatch out into some fluffy little ducklings in four weeks.

I’ve started collecting eggs to hatch for Seedy Saturday, 29 March at the Tlell market. Prices will stay the same as 2021-24. Limited #s of sexed/ female chicks; larger #s of straight run chicks. No preorders this year; we’ll post what hatches. We’ll also have laying quail hens, hatched Jan 2025.
