Hi there! I gave up on being an adult in favor of working at a game store, so now I get to obsess about tabletop RPGs as a matter of professional interest. Expect to find me either reveling in collaborative stories or selling joy.
This is the end of my Duolingo streak. Realized that I was only clinging to the hope that it would get better again, which realistically never happens. App is deleted, and I’m free of the owl. On to Mango, which is free through my local library.

Trump called it “great news for the country.” In other news, a stopped clock was discovered to briefly display the correct time.

Today’s realization: integrating robots into our lives would be way easier if we actually designed human spaces with accessibility in mind.

You know, I wonder how quickly the Supreme Court would overturn their Presidential immunity decision if the next President, as an official act, ordered the Treasury Department to stop paying Supreme Court Justices.

Today's comic from @smbccomics.bsky.social coined the phrase "I AM THE ANTLERS ON THE STAG OF STATE" and it made my day. www.smbc-comics.com/comic/signal-4

Just learned that Mango Languages is free through my local library, which means I can escape from Duolingo’s grip. Turns out the answer to “make education free” isn’t an app-based ad strategy, but instead… libraries. It was always just libraries.

Man, I’d love to get a bunch of people to go through recent Duolingo reviews on the App Store, and mark every complaint about AI or the new energy system as “Helpful”. Descending review scores seems like the only way to communicate at this point.

For those who miss NaNoWriMo, I suggest we claim it. The rules of #MyNoWriMo: write a 50,000 word novel entirely within the month of November. That's it. Though I do suggest we:

1. Help each other.
2. Keep it free and accessible.
3. Avoid attaching authority to it.

Let's write together again!

#Duolingo is trying out a new “feature” where lessons cost energy. But don’t worry, you can get more energy with ads! Or waiting! Or giving them money! Utterly antithetical to the stated purpose of learning, and just more like hyper-monetized idle games. Terrible update.

Aw, man, we’re having another Rapture? I haven’t had any time to prepare! Anybody know someone pious with a nice house?

Barely into the ABC transcript, and:

TERRY MORAN: “People are worried, even some people who voted for you, sayin', "I didn't sign up for this." So how do you answer those concerns?”

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: “Well, they did sign up for it, actually. And this is what I campaigned on.”

Fun breakdown of the tariff math. Turns out the Trump administration essentially declared that prices on imported goods will go up by 10.5%, and hoped no one would notice.

Step 1: Massive immigration crackdown.
Step 2: Fire already backlogged immigration judges.
Step 3: Massive human rights violations, I assume. Not many other likely outcomes.

A union official says the Trump administration has fired 20 immigration judges without explanation amid sweeping moves to shrink the size of the federal government.

“It’s our dream to have everybody, almost, working in the private sector, not in the public sector.”

And I’m sure letting the private sector bill the federal government for essential services will cut costs tremendously! And they’ll never sell taxpayer data for ad purposes. Right?

Anyone taking bets on when we’ll see stickers of Trump saying “I did this!” next to price tags in the grocery store?

@hankgreen.bsky.social My wife (F34) had a brain tumor when she was 12. It was removed (and hasn't come back!), but lately she's been curious: what physical stuff is in her head now where the tumor was? Like, a chunk was taken out, so what's taking up that space? Thought you might be curious too!
