2025 was our biggest year yet. 3 major releases. Over 250 new features, improvements and fixes. Stack layout. Frames. Automatic concentric corners. Progressive blurs. Glass. A major redesign. MCP server. And so much more.
When your design document is really just a JSON file on your Mac, and you’ve got a local MCP server to work with, it turns out you can do…a lot of useful things?

Here’s what we’ve been using the Sketch MCP server for ↓

We’re kicking off the year with four new features — starting with previews!

With previews, you can choose the pages and prototypes you want to share with clients, while keeping the rest of your document private. 🧵↓

Great with an MCP server

We shipped our MCP server back in October last year. Here are five (of many!) things we’ve been using it for 🧵 ↓

(We’re big Claude Code fans here, but you can use any MCP-compatible client)

One of the nice things about being a Not Huge™ company is chatting to y’all more! Last year we set up a small Discord server to do just that, and we’re opening up invites for a while.

It’s 2026, and if you’re looking for a new design tool… hi! If you’re new here, or you’ve been away for a while, here’s what we’ve been shipping and what you get with Sketch.

First up — the editor (which got a big redesign in 2025, btw).

📣 Just like last week, we’re taking a short break to welcome the new year with our family and friends. We’ll be back on 2 January. Thanks so much for your support this year — we can’t wait to share what we’ve got lined up for 2026.

📣 We’ll be taking a short break over the next couple of days to be with our family and friends. We’ll be back on 26 December. If you’re celebrating Christmas, we hope it’s a peaceful and happy one.
December 24, 2025 at 11:01 AM
I was going to write some joke about wrapping in stacks and wrapping presents for Christmas but I can’t bring myself to do it. Stacks can wrap in Sketch now, even if they’re vertical stacks. Go check it out. That’s it. That’s the post.

You can request ONE feature for us to work on in 2026. What are you requesting?

Small-ish update out now with: plenty of bug fixes (thanks for the reports!) and a few neat improvements — including this one @ja.mt suggested.

IYMI, our latest update brings one-click image background removal. It’s all done locally, on your device, using Apple’s Vision APIs. Super handy for quickly cutting out…well, anything.

To all of you who ever asked if we could offer a way to link to an individual page or frame in a document: you’re welcome.

With our latest update, you can organize your Workspace in any way you want. Projects and Collections are now simply folders. You can nest them infinitely, and call them anything you like. Just don’t go for:

Sometimes you’ve gotta let @rafa.design roll out the green screen and talk about his favorite Sketch updates. Is it entertaining? Yes. Is it informative? Yes. Will we be asking him again? Absolutely.

ICYMI we just shipped a big redesign — and an all-new Inspector. It’s a complete write that we started earlier in the year. It meant we could do things like break out the color picker into its own panel and give color variables a much more prominent home.

But there’s more! 🧵

Here’s a neat new feature in our big redesign — focus mode. It filters the layer list to show only the layers you’ve selected, their container(s) and any siblings. If you’ve got a busy canvas, this is going to stop you scrolling for miles in the Layer List.

Projects and Collections in your Workspace are now called… folders. So, the name isn’t exciting, but they’re way more flexible now. You can nest them infinitely, call them what you like, and organize your work exactly how you want.

We’ve got a biiiig update for you. A complete redesign of Sketch. Maybe you’ve tried the beta, maybe you’ve seen the teasers. Now you can update and try it all for real.

And there’s more! 🧵 ↓

ICYMI, as well as the redesign, this beta includes a new stacks feature — wrap.

(It works horizontally or vertically, don’t worry.)

For those of y’all who thought this next update was just us slapping glass on things… nope!

It’s a full revamp, including a complete redesign (and rewrite!) of the Inspector. Lots more to say on this when the beta drops, but there are so, so many tiny improvements in here we think you’ll enjoy.

Yes, the new toolbar has The Glass. It’s got some other neat tricks, too. We’ll save those details for the big reveal.

This redesign is so nearly ready, beta dropping very soon.
