The public stigma against psychoanalysis is puzzling, especially when there is so much evidence available showing the benefits long-term, and typically the stigma doesn't even pertain to the long treatment lengths, one of the cons listed in John Thor Cornelius's video.@drwilliamsharp.bsky.social

Reading the computerized CBT article directly after Shedler's article caused me to be a bit wary, but I assume that was Shedler's goal. The data seems reliable, but Shedler's comments on the use of language to minimize the impact of the control group lingered in my mind. @drwilliamsharp.bsky.social

Shedler's paper is very interesting and fascinating to read, but most importantly, it was thought provoking. He obviously has a bias, but it is a perspective I have never heard before; while I do check my sources, I never expected sources could be biased in this manner. @drwilliamsharp.bsky.social

After considering the ethical implications of patients being able to access their therapist's notes from their sessions I do think there is a proper way it can be done, but there must be clear and effective communication throughout the whole process. @drwilliamsharp.bsky.social
