A deadly combination
Here's a cool transparency effect I've added in, I think it works quite well with the game's art style, and fixes an issue I'd been having for a while on what to do when there's an object blocking the camera from the player.

Had a lot of fun working on some of these procedural materials, like the water and the moss on the rocks. I want to make one of these test environments for each of the game's areas eventually, helps me get an idea for how the areas will look :D

Worked on the ice spell a bit, decided I wanted it to be a flamethrower type thing.
Still far from perfect, and besides fixing the camera and adding in some sideways walking animations I also need to add it to the spell wheel and stuff. Back to work!

Working on spell no.4: Ice!
I was watching a vid of someone playing Tears of the kingdom and thought 'huh that enemy freeze effect is pretty cool, I wonder if I can recreate that'
you'll also be able to freeze like water and stuff to explore new areas!

Sorry it's been a while! I've been super busy with uni work. Here's a new feature I've been working on, a (really basic) spell UI that updates when the player unlocks new spells. You can now also cycle through available spells (yay!)

HOLY FISH IS THAT A THIRD SPELL??!11! This one is a basic explosive spell, it will be used for destroying crumbly walls etc. but also does a lot of damage to enemies, despite being slow. I also dipped my toes into Niagara for this which was awesome!

2ND SPELL ALERT!! This one spawns the bouncy things I mentioned previously. This is gonna be in place of the typical "double jump" type upgrade in terms of a vertical movement upgrade. They also spawn relative to the face normal they landed on :D

Here are some funky bounce pad things I added, they launch you away from their forward vector and with an adjustable velocity. I also made it so you can't get ridiculous airtime with the gliding lol

Here's a super basic lock on system I added in, still working on improving how the player will aim to cast spells, I want it to feel intuitive and not clunky. I also tweaked the basic spell, to make it more loosely home on to enemies!

I added in this adjustable health system, which allows you to increase/decrease the max number of hearts as well. I was inspired by Hollow knight to create this cool meter that fills up from defeating enemies. Gonna make it look more stylish at some point.

Here's a cool tree that I made for my game. took me a while to get the style for the leaves right (and it's still not perfect). was inspired by the the trees from animal crossing!
