Just watched the ad for Bartesian cocktail maker on the telly and the question arises - yes or no?

A useful addition to the coffee machine?

Have you seen it - thoughts?

If Starmer is toast, what happens to Reeves?
Who will replace them and will there be significant policy shifts to prevent the country from effective bankruptcy?

I can’t seem to really get into just one book and read it from cover to cover. So, what I do is read two books alternately, one chapter from each at a time.

I believe it was Gordon Brown who took the PPPI finance off the books. This article is suggesting this was a big mistake.

We seem to have reached a point in political discourse in the UK that is more polarised than at any time in my life (I am 68 y/o).

What do you think the causes of this polarisation are?

Brexit?
Trump?
Immigration?
Conservatives?
Labour?
Something else?

@skynewsrss.bsky.social The ethical issue in the story concerning Angela Rayner's property transactions is not that she underpaid her Stamp Duty, although that is undoubtedly serious, but that she used - abused? - her disabled Son's Trust funds to facilitate the purchase of her flat in Hove.

New weather terminology "a consistency of warmth".

Plus news that the UK is warming at 0.25°C per decade - will easily see me out - and good for elderly. Oh, and what about the Winter Fuel Allowance? No longer needed?

Sorry to be morbid but I've just discovered that our ottoman isn't long enough to reuse usefully for my wife's funeral.
Could there be a business opportunity I'm missing in this era of recycling?

We need a competition to design the silliest hat for our PM, then see if we can make it catch in the US.

I know Trump looks silly in his MAGA cap, but it's clearly not silly enough for a man so amazingly silly.
one of the most admirable aspects of human culture, until comparatively recently, is the near universal civilisational compulsion to wear a silly hat after you accumulate any amount of power

fundementally this is where society started going wrong. why don't the powerful wear drip like this anymore

Rumour has it that you drank the entire Iberian Peninsula dry this weekend.

And now it seems you also used up their entire capacity for generating energy.

I'm guessing you're a gal who likes to make an impact?

Any trade nerds on here want to do a post on how UK 10% US tariff creates a gravitational pull for EU manufacturers?

What Trump just did is bonkers and truly awful for everyone, but I am wondering how the trade theory plays out.

"The Big Switch that changes the power supply to our back up substation! Now can somebody please throw THE BIG SWITCH?"

On the rare occasions my wife and I see a man in a suit, we've begun saying "he's dressed for the Oval Office".
We were then packing for a weekend away where we'd be heading to a nice restaurant and I asked if I should pack a suit.
In unison we both said "Well, it's not the fucking Oval Office".

I wonder if the World Taekwondo Amateur Federation (still) exists, despite any negative connotations.
In 2017, the World Taekwondo Federation changed its name to World Taekwondo because of the ‘negative connotations’ associated with its initials.
